questions about cross platform

  • I want to run SoT on my xbox one as well as my pc at the sametime. Is it possible to use one game download on one Microsoft account and run it at the sametime on my pc and xbox? If not, then I must buy the game once on two different accounts (twice in total). And then provide xbox live gold for both accounts?

  • @funkydroski if you own the game digitally you have it on pc and on xbox through the same account

  • okay cool, now as far as connecting my Microsoft account to steam account... they are under different emails. is that an issue?

  • @funkydroski sea of thieves isnt on steam but that I do not know much about. I only know that if you have the same account on your windows pc and the xbox, if you own the game digitally you have it on both

yes but I believe to run on pc it needs to be connected through your steam account... as far as what I have read. if not then how do you launch the game once bought through Microsoft store?

  • @funkydroski I had state of decay 2 in my pc thought gamepass and I didnt need steam but as long as you use the same Microsoft account then steam might not be an issue I dont know I am xbox player

  • @luiscool1009593 yeah that's my concern atm, my steam account and Microsoft live account and not through the same email address. and I play a lot of games on steam, so it would be a major hassle to create a new steam account just to play SoT, and have to constantly log back and forth between steam accs depeneding on what I want to play.

Pc Player here, when I run the game it isn't through Steam. As much as I would like it too, Steam and Xbox are two separate unrelated entities. The only program you may need is the Xbox App and a live connection (Internet not Xbox live) I am actually unsure if you need the Xbox app, but it has its benefits running it. Due to the majority of players being on Xbox this is the best way to engage with them outside and inside the game.

  • If you are on PC with Windows 10, then you probably have the XBox app already. If not, install it. It is all you need to play the game.

  • @funkydroski The game doesn't run on Steam and you don't need Steam to run it. You can't, however, run it on both systems at the same time with the same Microsoft account. You only have one pirate per account and you can't have your pirate in the game twice. You can create multiple accounts for the same game, however.

Xbox Live provides the front end for SoT. It's included with Win10.
This is where your friends list, LFG functions, achievements, and whatnot are found. The "view in MS store" hyperlink helps me when it comes time to update the game.
