Kraken reaching through the deck

  • I was just playing solo on a brigantine. A kraken appeared, and I felt like my chances of winning this battle were slim. My sails were open, there were no rocks or islands ahead and the wind was blowing in my favour. So, I thought I'd go below deck, repair what needed repairing, and come back up when the coast was clear. (side note: I didn't know if escaping the kraken was or wasn't an option, never tried it before.) I was way below deck, when suddenly the kraken reached through the deck, picked me up and threw me across the ocean as my ship was sinking.

Is this something that needs fixing or am I missing something?

  • I thought that grabbing something (like mounting a cannon) would help you from getting sucked in but I was solo and got sucked in twice. Hardest part for me was when the tentacle trapped me below decks and I had to shoot and cut my way out in hopes I would not sink. It was tough but I prevailed. Another time when I was loaded with loot it was way harder and I did lose everything. I think the encounters should be a little less varied as when I sunk I basically had no chance. I had just stolen a fort from a galleon so it was insult to injury. Managed to sail back to salvage a few things but only the merchant items remained even though I sailed directly back.

  • Being sucked up through the ship now is A LOT better than it was. But I agree if you’re solo slooping being sucked up is game over. So it’s unacceptable if you’re truly inside of the ship.
