Xbox one x needs 60fps

  • So i game and have played sea of thieves since beta on a GTX 1080ti gaming PC on a 165hz 1440p monitor..

Wallet got itchy today so i picked up a 55" 4k HDR TV and an xbox one x.. Booted sea of thieves as its availible on play-anywhere.

The game is stunning on the TV and is just great, but i felt like i was carrying a chest of a thousand grogs in comparison to the PC, i know with time i would get used to it... But xbox users really need a 60fps option.

    That is all :P

  • Console running 4k @ 60? LOL

  • @soopavillain420 1080/30 performance mode would be nice.

  • @soopavillain420

Forza 7 would like a word.

  • Didn't say it needed 4k60, a performance mode would be nice.. Variable frame-rate or even 1080-1440p with a few details reduced would be just fine.

I have best of both worlds, having a top-end gaming PC and the most powerful console in the world.. and this is just my opinion. I'm sure a few people may agree with me.

  • The same thing was asked for, for the new God Of War game on PS4 pro. People wanted a 60 FPS experience, so the developers gave them an uncapped FPS option, wanna know what they got? A game that runs at 60 fps when you're standing still or in uncongested areas and dips around into the late 20's when you're not. SoT's would be no different, running on the UE4 engine with a lot going on, you will not stay at 60 FPS and if the FPS is not capped, you will notice it and it will bug your eyes. 30 is the better option for consoles merely cause it runs better that way.

  • @kashaarafall

I see your point but i'm pretty sure that the PS4 pro has pretty inferior hardware compared to the PS4 pro, there is no reason why the one x with comparable GPU power to a 1060-1070 with better optimisation couldn't handle 1080p60, i'm not expecting mythic 4k at 60fps.. My 1080ti can just handle that, and when standing over an island on the crows nest it tanks to 30-40...

Point is, the developers do the restrictions to avoid the problems. If you have a 60 FPS experience and at any point your 60 FPS dips down to 40 or so during action packed moments, you notice it. The more it happens, the more you notice it and it would end up with people sitting here complaining about it. With it locked at 30, you pretty much give certainty that the console can provide the power and have no problems what so ever. Even at 30, the console has still dipped to 27 before in certain areas, so asking for 60 is pretty odd imo.

  • @kashaarafall

Again i see the point, but i am possitive that the One X has the chops to handle this game at 1080p60 without hitches

  • @xixxo123 Without hitches? Not a chance. It would dip to 55-51 at most, but it would not stay at a constant 60. 1060 is not exactly new hardware and this is the UE4 engine.

  • @kashaarafall

the GTX 1060 handles the game on mythic at 70-100fps at 1080p, considering that the one x generally performs better on most games due to console optimization i highly doubt that it will hover around 50-60fps.

  • @kashaarafall

    If you were wondering..

  • @xixxo123 unless you're gonna accept a massive graphics downgrade you're never gonna get 60fps with that garbage hardware

  • the game feels weird on xbox one x, i am rather playing on pc... (i would love to use my xbox one x thou)
xbox one x feels "sluggish" somehow compared to pc gameplay

  • I don't see the harm, but I doubt it'll be able to remain consistent even at 1080p

  • I see people are slowly starting to wake up to the fact that a higher FPS is better for these types of games than your c****y 30 with excuses.

  • @th3xr34p3r Nah everyone knows it's just not something we all think is worth complaining about.

  • @anndy578 Well if you look at steam statistics for PC gamers less than 30% of PC gamers have anything close to the One X in terms of performance.

Personally in my experiences playing SoT the majority of players are xbox.. every time i ask people on mic what they play on, it is almost always xbox.

  • Did you upgrade all your cables as well. Old HDMI cables aren't going to provide you with the most your new 4k tv can pump out. Sure they're pricey but if you want to get the most out of it, you're going to need to dish out another $100-$200 on the right gear

  • @paddymck

Was checking out this $1000 cable on amazon.. may just have to get it.

  • Honestly, I'm a little bit perturbed by all the irresponsible s*****s who bought an xbox one x. By purchasing this console, you're tacitly supporting their decision to focus on 4k instead of steady 60fps or higher at 1440 or 1080. I'll personally never purchase another ms console until games are 60fps/1080p at least, and kb/m support is mandatory for a game to be on the platform. If I wanted a high resolution slide show I'd go look at pictures and if I wanted to be disadvantaged by hardware I'd go eat lead paint chips.

i can play all other 4k games perfectly smooth (multiplayer & Singleplayer), just with SoT it feels weird on xbox one x

You're overestimating the power of the rx580 inside the xbox one X by about 40-50%.

  • @paddymck test have been done and no noticable difference was found from a 5 dollar HDMI cable to a one thousand dollar HDMI cable. this test was an analystic test with graphs. not picture viewing to see what looked better

I have heard that 1440p looks no better then 1080p

my 5+ year old and still aging pc does over well beyond 65fps+ at 1080p but if you want 4k Nvidia and AMD do not support 4k or 8k or anything AMD made your console not Microsoft 4k is 2160p and not 1440p and 8k is 4320p it would be nice if they would stop delaying 4k support and release 8k because there are no other products to buy the only thing AMD and Nvidia support are 3D products which tanked at the box office centuries ago

  • @soopavillain420
    Graphics: 4k / 30 fps
    Perfomance: 1080p / 60 fps

  • This would be nice, but the cpu in the one x is too trash to do 60 fps reliably.

  • @soopavillain420 resident evil 7 and doom just had 4K 60fps updates on Xbox one x. Keep hating though.

I’d prefer a drop in resolution to boost it to 60 FPS. 1440 or even 1080. My MacBook Pro runs SoT’s at 1080 60...

Just give us options Rare. Just like most games on the X. 1080 60 and 4k 30. Even your X support is bare bones.

  • I use an Nvidia Shield TV if I want to play PC games on the downstairs TV. Easiest solution.

  • SoT uses the same game engine as Fortnite. Fortnite runs at a rock solid 60FPS @4k now the X. It can be done.

  • I've been putting money aside to get an Xbox One X, but playing Sea of Thieves on my vanilla Xbox One has made me start to rethink my decision to even bother getting one - in my unspoiled eyes the game already looks gorgeous and runs smoothly! It's all subjective.

why not? you need to understand Console != PC ... we don't have Windows, we dont need 4 GB Ram for the Operation-System

save that for next generation or for something of value
all current Sony and Microsoft consoles are about 10 years old now
current Sony and Microsoft consoles all feature this

something a little more modern would look like this

OS family Hyper-V and Windows 10 based Xbox OS

Memory Original and S model: 8 GB DDR3 (5 GB available to games)
X model: 12 GB GDDR5 (9 GB available to games)
