Let's talk ideas, concepts and improvement we would like

  • Hi !

This thread is not made to complain, whine, or beg for content, let's just talk about things we would like to see exist in the game.

For me, the main things I would love would be :

    Leveling :
-A more RPG side, with levels, talents in order to get specialized (for example getting better at canoning, so you reload faster, shoot more precisely; or become the navigator so you can identify the direction you need to head to more easily etc.) I.M.O, this would add durability to the game, by adding "goal" (I need my lvl 10 so I unlock my new saber attack!).

    Looting :
-The stuff should be more than just comsetic, but have different stats according to the speciality you're interested in, so you have an actual reason to farm gold.

-Special secret loots, than you can find "lost" on Island, through an event or even just out of pure luck, I imagine Jack Sparrow's Compass for example but many things could be added, and IMO those special Items should be dropped if you get killed in PvP, it would add much more meaning to PvP (at the moment killing another ship is not really rewarding); imagine you find a "cursed saber" that deals a LOT of damages, but makes your hp always low for example.

Maybe my tastes ar too "traditional RPG" oriented, and probably super hard to balance, but here is my opinion on how I would like the game, please share yours !

  • @kratezia HI!

Just wanted to say that your first 2 choice for content go directly against what the developers intended for the game. There is no levelling or advantages against new players.

  • No I don't think that rpg would be the sulotion.
What it needs is some more stuff to discover, more lore in the game

Please no. Sea of Thieves is not your generic RPG clone. Now walk the plank.

  • @thewolfman321 That makes me sad :(

I don't really understand the direction they head to, because SoT is an mmo game, and the most important thing to do for a sucessful game is to make people stay on it, by rewarding those who spent time on it no ? Maybe there is something I don't understand in the business model.

  • Sea of Thieves is not an MMO either. For heavens sake from where do people get this [Mod edited] idea.

It's closer to "Halo Combat Evolved with pirate ships" than it is to World of Warcraft.

  • @sanni A server that you share with other people, online interaction such as PvP, the very definition of "MMO" is :

"an online video game which can be played by a very large number of people simultaneously."

So... SoT IS an MMO whether it's marketed like that or not... But that's not the point of this thread, please I just want to here your own ideas and opinions to see what people are waiting of this game !

  • @kratezia @sanni it's an MMO game in terms of the fact it is online and multiplayer. It is not an MMO RPG which is what most people are used to, like GW or WoW.

There is no denying that the game requires more content, in terms of public events, quests and mainly the cosmetic items we are supposed to be unlocking. If they had given us a proper list of cosmetics and a proper system to unlock them, this game could have worked in the same way that a traditional MMO worked minus the progression, but it was released too soon and pretty poorly so there is nothing to work towards.

  • @kratezia

Sorry mate but "we"? I think you would like this.

But this is not such a game, I play SOT because it is not a mmo where you need to be high lvl or have the best item with the right stat to compete. I play because you are on evenfooting with everone and skill is more important then stats.

I like the idea of finding random items to decorate your ship or yourself that would be pretty cool. :)

  • @dyanor

Are you all genuinely trying to misunderstand my post and make it a fight ?

Maybe writing "For me, the main things I would love would be " was not enough to explain that I was sharing my point of view in order to here yours...

Please read again if you are interested, I'm going to repeat myself : these are MY ideas, MY opinions, I am curious in learning other people's ideas and opinions, I am curious about understanding what other players are expecting from the game. I never wrote "we want this and that".

I see what you’re saying, but the game doesn’t have large numbers of players together. I’ve heard the player cap per world is 16. The fact that millions of players are playing online simultaneously doesn’t make it an MMO if those players are in different worlds.

16 players in one world is less than a Battlefield multiplayer game. It doesn’t matter either way, but the game is hardly an MMO.

  • @kratezia

Sorry mate, I might not have understood you correctly by reading it again i have to apologize to jump to conclusions. :)

I would like to see more freedom and sandbox idea as that is kinda what they sold us so more in like crafting stuff from things you find new cosmetics or foods/drinks or new sails or ornaments ect.

Make it more dynamic so to speak. :)
