Unfortunately, not every player runs into another kind and fun gamer, especially with solo players. I love this game, it has so much potential and is a lot more fun playing with other people, but it still lacks some content which is all a lot of us are saying and have suggested.

We now live on a world where it's not just the kids that are spoilt little brats, 90% of the adult gamers are whingey little 12 year old girls too. It's a shame

@roscom79 because this game is lacking in a lot of areas. Don’t get me wrong, I’m really hopeful for this game. I’ve been supporting it for over 2 years. I’m trying to enjoy it but it’s really hard.

Also when you spend $60+, or even more depending where you’re located, you’d expect something with more than just 3 main factions that are the worst grind I’ve ever seen. Even worse than gta 5 online.

@donklol Fanboys ruined this game we live in a generation where it's ok to overpay for something and not ok to talk about the lack of value you receive i know it's hard for you kids to understand because you're uneducated but games used to be released when they were Complete and had all the content in the game at launch, not tech demos and betas that pretty much showed you Everything the game had to offer, i know you're just trying to justify waisting $60 on a game that isn't finished. Welcome to the game 2 was made by ONE person and has much more content than this p.o.s game and only cost $10. Microsoft is done and rare needs to back to into hiding.

Unfortunately Sea of Thieves got alot of attention as it looked so new and refreshing against alot of other recent games, and with that level of attention came many different view points, the consequence is some of those view points come from people who can't or won't conduct themselves well within a public forum.
Current pros/cons
The world is beautiful and art style is great.
Pvp is actually balanced.
The water is an amazing accomplishment.
Content needs more variety.
But when players are voicing opinions instead of suggesting ideas in a meaningful and respectful way they instantly start with poor language, saying the game will sink and a whole load of negativity that isn't constructive, but this is a wider problem throughout all of gaming at the moment. People cant accept that maybe they just dont enjoy a game and want it changed to be what they wanted regardless of how it could completely change the aim if the game.
As it stands Sea of Thieves could branch out in many different ways and satisfy alot of people by building on what it has, which is a solid and well designed core. In the meantime some players will suggest reasonable ideas while others demand the game be overhauled into a completely different experience that wouldn't be feasible, at this point the playerbase needs to let Rare decide what they are doing as its just over 2 weeks since launch and expecting world changing content now just isnt realistic.
Hopefully things will settle as time goes by and we learn more.

I'm really pleased with the fact that there is no progression system in the game and that the primary focus is to plunder other ships on the sea.

The other games that I have played require you to complete repetitive tasks to unlock skills, abilities, weapons and gear in order to level up your character so you can play the end game content or be competitive in pvp. Sea of Thieves skips all the grind and gives the players the option to have fun right away.

Now, why are people still grinding away content in Sea of Thieves when they could be having fun instead?

A few people that I have talked to have found that overly aggressive players detract from the excitement and exploration of the game. There’s not much reward if you go fetch something and then proceed to get slaughtered. So there’s the PVP Vs. PVE issue.

No doubt, Sea of Thieves is much more fun with other people. But the game is mostly fun for the journey and unpredictability of what the other players will do, and how to react.

For the most part, every mission has a different journey and outcome for me, even if it’s just avoiding players.
For more some, the trio of quests is a bore and people find that sinking ships and griefing others is the only fun thing left to do after grinding the same quests for ages.

XD It's clear to me you're never played any MMOs, where you have 100 factions and half of them you get rep, one quest a day and it's only like 200

No salt here. Yes, I'm a solo player, no I don't engage in PvP.

Do I wish people would stop attacking me and just leave me alone to deliver my chickens? Yes.
Do I get upset about it? No. It is what it is, I'm free to run or scuttle or jump servers or whatever. The tools are there, you just have to use them.

I'd also say that Streamers may be a bit to blame for the current backlash, and heres why;
The game in its current state has an aim, reach pirate legend, this was meant to take a month or two but with streamers playing the game 20hrs a day the achieved it far faster than expected, to add some perspective most nights that i play will be 4-5hrs, so it would take me 5 days to accomplish what a streamer did in one.
If the game had been allowed to progress naturally without a week one pirate legend alot of the early buzz would still be around, and content would of had time to be added once bug fixes were resolved.
Instead we are at week 3 since launch with all the mystery lost about the end goal of the game at the minute, will more content help? Yes, any new things to do will always be good, but there will always be someone who complains about what content comes first or how said content could be better.

Hardly uneducated, it's not something they teach in history, I remember when games were complete, but back then people made games because they liked games, now they make games to make money. I have game pass so I got this free. I'm pretty sure every game has a window of in game played hours to get a refund, yet here you are, still complaining, on the official forums of a game you don't seem to enjoy

You're the only one crying pal, if you don't own or play the game why are you here? Or are you Salty that you can't play it anymore and are finding as many reasons as you can to justify being saltier than the oceans in SOT

@donklol please tell me another game that lacked this much content that would be considered fun... please don't say Goldeneye, Perfect Dark, Conkers bad fur day, Donkey Kong or ether of the first 2 banjo games because you would be very...very wrong.

Personally I wouldn't say it lacked content....do you not think the reason why you think it lacks content is because you've been over spoilt in all the games that you've played with content? I mean do you play PUBG or Fortnite? What content do they have? And don't say new game modes lol :P, Why does each and every game have to have the level of content Ark has? I probably get down 130 hours a week and I'm not bored yet, so it's hardly a universal problem but a personal one.

Sure, but those other games have a purpose for the grind. Experience, better loot, new enemies and dungeons, etc...

In SoT there is no real reason for the grind except to achieve the title of "Pirate Legend", which currently doesn't actually mean anything.

I like the game and see a lot of potential in it, but what we've been sold is not a complete game in many peoples' opinions. And those opinions are perfectly valid.

Same thing happens to me, I just want to deliver my sneks, chickens and gunpowder to be honest. But that’s part of a Merchant’s Life.
outsmarting and outmanouvreing 2 galleons and leading them into each other for instance can be very rewarding.

@donklol I think I know the problem...don't take it personal but you don't have a job do you? If you did...you would only have about 10 hours a week to play video games.. at leasts thats my situation. This game is priced $60 with that comes certain requirements.. like content. Fortnite is free and battle grounds is $20 both have more content than sea of thieves... With my 10 hours of video games I like to spend it on games that are worth while and as it is now... SoT is not. I want it to be! I see potential and have a soft spot for Rare in my "snowflake" heart. When you get older you'll learn to expect more from things. If you want to say I'm spoiled because video games used to be released when they were actually done... then I guess I'm spoiled
