Spawn times and spawn locations need to be addressed... please read

  • So me and my friend in a sloop just got done being assaulted by another group of 2 in their own sloop. We were on an island finding loot and qwesting. We see an approaching ship so we get ready to defend etc. We successfully kill both guys and manage to sink their ship and save our loot. We stay on the lookout and continue on with our mission, about 3-4 minutes later the same group of 2 people come sailing back in, and this time a lucky placed skeleton in a outpost shoots their ship up with like 4 cannonballs while were making our way back to our ship. They come on shore and we manage to kill both of them again. We dident know if at the time but one of their crew managed to respawn just seconds before the ship sank, so we start getting ready to depart feeling 100% safe as we just fended off the same guys TWICE now. While sailing out of the island the last surviving crew jumps on our ship shoots both of us in the back of the head with a shotgun and our ship hits into a boulder before we can respawn, and we spawn into a sinking ship. Ship sinks we loose all our loot in the water and moments later their other crewmate sails in on their THIRD ship... they finish us off and take our loot and sail off....

    Point of the story:
Spawn times need to be addressed, raising them somewhat or something idk...
Spawn locations NEED to be AS FAR AWAY AS POSSIBLE from where you died....

It is not fair in any way to be assaulted by the same crew 3 times back to back after successfully fending them off. If you kill a crew and sink their ship that should be the END of it. They should not be spawned 1 island away, a 3-4 minutes sail time away... really absurd.

I'm not sure spawning far away is the solution. I was attempting to one man the raid and came across another pirate crew on a galleon. They kept killing me and I kept respawning what seemed like forever away from the skull fort. i spent more time trying to get back into the fight than actually fighting. When my focus is pvp I should be able to get back into the fight almost immediatly. I have a solution for this issue. The two guards an either side of the ghost ship exit should have an option to bribe them with gold. If you don't pay them you spawn at the standard spawn location the game system already uses. however, if you pay them 200 gold the ghost ship materializes in the real world near your last death location and makes a cool animation like it's springing out of the water like a shark jumping for a sea lion. Then the ghost ship theme burns away revealing your ship and you are back into the fight. The timing and mermaid functionality def need a look, but this has been mentioned before.

  • Spawn camping needs addressing in the game some crews even though you have no treasure or anything just wait for you to spawn in and kill you again me and a friend had this happen to us for about 30 minutes which at that point I just logged off, the spawn issues are there and am sorry but this is a love it or hate it option if you love it then its cause you like to annoy other players which to be honest killing people doesn't earn you anything so it's pointless...
If you hate it then it's because of trolls who think it's funny and to be completely honest I'd rather be out earning booty than just killing random till they quit only sad people do it.

  • I AGREE SO MUCH. maybe not so far away but at least a good distance to let them rethink or give you some time to do what you need to do.

I just spent 2 hours on a skull fort by myself to have the same tiny ship come back at least 10 times just to keep getting sunk by me. then after the tiny boat FINALLY gave up a big gallon came along with 4 people just to sink me and ruin any chance of completing that skull fort.

IT NEEDS TO BE CHANGED. I did not spend 2 hours of my day working on a skull Fort just to "warm up" the skeletons for another gallon crew to walk up, kill the last wave and leave with all the gold. I'm crazy in love with this game and have been playing nonstop. but I maybe have to take a break until this boat spawning gets fixed.

or at least stop choosing skull forts right next to an outpost. give the solo people a hand. us solo people don't always like to work 2 hours to help someone else get gold.

  • I don't think there is an issue with where they spawn. The issue lays in where YOU spawn. Ive actually really not enjoyed playing this game tonight, and ive decided to turn the game off now (rage quit lol), reason is because as soon as i spawned when people board my ship i get 1 hit by the shot gun blunderbuss or whatever its called. This happened repeatedly and it happened on 3 different occasions with 3 different groups. There is no way for me to defend myself and the load times to get back in are actually really slow and it doesnt help when there is a sense of urgency. Ive lost 1 captains chest and a few other caged chickens tonight.

The only solution i can think of is to grant players invulnerability for a few seconds when respawning on their own ship to at least give us a chance to locate enemy players and figure out what to do from there.

  • @chrysa1is Totally agree, the same thing has happened to me as well. It takes as little as two people, one to shoot me with the Blunderbuss as I spawn, and the other to loot the ship.

On the other hand, let's say you were on the other end of this, and you killed off a pirate crew (or single player) legitimately. Read that as "playing the game, not being a jerk". Would you want to be able to loot the ship, or even have time to eat some bananas to heal yourself, without fear that the NOW INVINCIBLE pirate crew was going to respawn on the ship in about 30 seconds?

I hate getting killed by campers as well but it is not as simple as that.

  • If their ship sunk and he respawned then there should have been a mermaid in the water.
So how can you feel safe if there is an enemy mermaid in the water?

I agree with you in so far that the spawn location of a sunken ship should be about twice the distance it is now, because right now they respawn on the closest island so you don't gain much from sinking them in them in the first place.

  • Yes this needs fixing. Was just scavenging a sunken ship with a friend. He sees a sloop approaching our location, so we decided to turn our sloop sideways in case they went for the ram. They went for the ram we plugged a few holes and as soon as they crashed we started fighting them with bb's. We won the engagement and started sailing off. After 2 min here they come again. We sank them again and another sloop that was teeming with them. We got to an outpost and managed to get the treasure turned in safely and when we were sailing we spotted them again without realizing that there was somebody on our ship. The guy jumped off the crow's nest and blasted me with a bb. He proceeded to drop our anchor and started fighting my friend while the other guy sank our ship. The experience ruined it for my friend and he called it quits, ruined the night for us. We had to fight the same guys 3 times in a row, this definitely needs fixing.

  • They are catering to the snowflake pvpers. That rushed to reddit to cry about the one thing that would shut them down. Death tax.

  • I honestly think skull forts are a bad idea now, it just turns into a cluster f**k and no changes proposed will fix it. Spend 30 mins doing all of the waves? How fun would it be to get ganked and spawn on the other map with no way to go back in the fight.

1 issue: spawn zerging, generally not a huge issue in normal play because.. ships are mobile
2 issue: Event that takes a lot of effort and leaves ships and their crew vunerable while issue 1 is at its worse.

Its just a bad event for the game. It should be quicker / easier to do but your new shiny cargo should be easy to find any where on the map so at least your not fighting two gauntlets.

  • Me and my friend literally fought off 7 ships WHILE we were doing the fort, 4 of the ships were the same people just coming back after we sunk there ship, We killed them OVER and OVER, extremely difficult to do WHILE you are fighting hordes of skeletons, The re-spawn should be placed extremely far from your original death, They would spawn a 2-3 min sail away from us. we could actually SEE where they spawned. Definitely needs to be addressed

  • I’m going to be honest, I definently took advantage of this. I was in a sloop with my friend and we kept on respaening and attacking the same galleon because of how much loot it had. We finally took the captains chest, hid it on the island and came back later to claim our stolen booty.

  • @obmoc "however, if you pay them 200 gold the ghost ship materializes in the real world near your last death location and makes a cool animation like it's springing out of the water like a shark jumping for a sea lion. This makes the problem way worse, dude... What the hell?! xD

This is, yes, this makes it so you can rejoin the fight immediately... BUT THE OTHER PEOPLE CAN DO IT TOO! Seriously, think 2 steps ahead of yourself at least, jeez.

  • if in the area to trigger cannon fire from a skull fort and you are sunk.. you need to be spawned at the edge of the map.. or at least a randomized spawn.

  • You ruined the game now all people do is chill back until the end of the fort then everyone attacks you forcing you to spawn about nine squares away while they empty the vault and turn in items I hope you enjoyed your fun because this game is now just a waiting game
