just remove it completely. I wouldn’t mind a block-stun for sword on sword battles. favoring defenders on the 3hit combo block and sword charges while benefiting neither for single attacks/blocks. if the idea turned out anything close to what’s happening now then forget I said anything about the latter suggestion😶 sword stun reminds me of getting shot by any plasma weapon in halo: combat evolved; but at least there it made sense in relationship to DPS of the weapons....
sword stun is the worst😡
@deadhusky what? realistic would be I stab/slash you with a sword, you crumple, lose a limb, die.. anything but become frozen by the blows until you eventually die🤔
@deadhusky it's not realistic at all if you get hit with a sword your going to get dazed and just sit there and take it.
@boaton I agree with taking it away but keeping it with the 3 block combo and if they charge attack it cancels the block or knocks the defender back.
Yeah, but there's a LOT they could do within the SoT aesthetic to make it more intelligible.
Sword 'slashes' from the Art Department.
Replays, perhaps?
An icon-based Combat Log (like Overwatch) that can be turned on for people who want it. Even some BASIC RPG HP figures. People who play games UNDERSTAND how HP works. This game isn't on the Level One level of getting your Nan to use a Wiimote because it looks like the TV remote. SoT is past that--people understand how health works.I KNOW SoT isn't serious. It's a 'soft skills game'--but PvP combat and 'squad' skirmishes are A) part of the game and B) a BIG deal to a lot of players. Getting combat to feel right is important.
We need sword swooshes. Clear hit markers for all weapons. Enemy health bars, perhaps?
I'd even go as far as staying they should remove the Blunderbuss, too. It might fit historically and thematically, but getting one-shot just isn't fun for anyone--especially when combat lacks the surface-level technicality of hitscan twitch FPS games.
We need a solid, responsive, clever, and visually comprehensible combat system.
