Party and Game-chat

    So, my friend and I were docked at an Outpost when we came across another player who was soloing. We were in party chat, and we could see he was speaking to us as he held a chest in his hands. My friend could still hear him talking, but I could not, we let him be and sell his chest. But is there an option to have party chat, but still hear game chat as well?

    I tried messing with my audio and output settings, but nothing worked. Does anyone else have an answer as to how I can set up my audio to allow party and game-chat?

    I'm guessing your friend was playing on pc & you are playing on xbox, am i right?
    PC players can hear proximity chat whilst still in party chat, xbox players unfortunately cannot.

    @logansdadtoo no, he was playing on xbox as well. His settings matched all mine as well. So, I have no idea what the determining factor for his to work and mine does not.

    The only other thing is if your friend had a stereo headset on where all game audio is routed to the headphones as well?

    Yes this needs to be figured out. Idk if it’s something rare can fix in the game or if it is an Xbox setting problem.

    @logansdadtoo I play on PC and by Sloop mate plays on XBOX. We had the same problem when we run across a Random playing solo. I hear him but my buddy did not (he uses stereo headset and i do as well with a mixer). I told him to change ingame audio to SPEAKERS and he was able to hear the Random as well. The RANDOM had his on Speakers too. Are these different in game audio setting causing problems possibly?

    Try using Xbox party setting to game chat & see what happens.

    @logansdadtoo Are you sure?
    I think I heard people speaking from my speakers when I was in party chat with my party chat headphone.

    EDIT: oh dear my bad. I hadn't see the topic is a month old...

    There are only two options right now..

    1. Party Chat (private between the gamertags you invite, or have been invited)
    2. Game Chat (Open in world (within distance) discussion)

    From XB1 party you can switch between the two of these. I assume something similar for PC players exists as well?

    @happyalbe It was a month old... it was just revived lol.
    @DirtyOldMan2779 I dont play on xbox. I just prefer my PC better. I thought id really enjoy this on the ONE X but my PC just feels better. I even use controller but just looks better to me on my PC. However... That is what worked for us. We were in Party and still able to communicate with the Random after we figured out settings. Which I think it should be. That way we dont lose communication with each other because he is on the opposite side of the island sometimes.

    I was hoping I would too LOL I didn't think my PC would look better than my ONE X with my new 4k HDR tv I got specifically for this game.
