Getting a beta code for a friend

  • I have been lucky enough to get onto the Alpha/Beta for sea of thieves but was wondering if you will be giving codes away to members to invite their friends? This is clearly one of those games that would be so much better with my 3 close gaming friends :-)

  • I want to play this game so much as well :( and it says is unavailable for preorder on microsoft store.. help

  • @sixsicsixclown unfortunately it is not possible to get codes unless you’ve preordered the game.

  • @dhg-ixxrmacxxi This seems a bit backwards considering it is a multiplayer only game. You would think to allow people to have a good experience they would at least be able to invite a single friend to play with them.

  • @xrelikon it is no doubt also a marketing strategy by Microsoft to get more people to preorder.

  • @dhg-ixxrmacxxi even then i didnt get any beta code.

  • hi, @DHG-IXxRMACxXI can you resolve the problem "too early"? thanks

  • @erm95 this man know de wei

  • @erm95 Rare is working on finding and resolving the issue as we speak.

  • @da-rainbow-hawk Where and when did you pre-order the game from?

Will cancel Preorder if they do not manage to fix it in next 2 hours.
This does not convince me to be worth 70€.
Lag of information. Lag of support.

  • @dhg-ixxrmacxxi i preordered from the xbox store, as for when let me double check...

  • @kisshuthestein I'm sorry to hear that, keep in mind this is a Closed Beta test and is supposed to test if these issues are going to occur so that they do not occur when you have actually spent money on the game.

I needed to give my privacy policy agreement.
And my DebitCard information etc. For me this is actually a huge thing.
It's ok to have an issue but 4 hours silence....

  • @kisshuthestein There hasn't been silence, there is still a banner across the top of your screen and I am here providing updates that it is still being worked on. Until there is a fix that's all the information we have.

  • Yeah, To be honest with you SixSicSixClown, I think there should be a few extra codes to invite friends. Playing Sea of Thieves I have come to realize this game is meant for close teamwork. Now, I am 100% thankful that we have been chosen for the beta I will be playing again, however, when I was playing the technical alpha I was constantly sent to the jail during my whole play session when my only offense was pressing play with a crew.

Now the reason why I bring this up is that there are only so many things to do when you're in jail, like pull out your instrument and play some damn good tunes but that's not the Sea of Thieves, experience that I wanted and/or a large number of other people may have wanted.

Now if there were friend codes, Imagine playing a game with your close friends. We're all gamers, we know how it feels and how much more fun it is to experience new situations with someone your close too. Given the scale, the idea and the spontaneous use of the environment and actions of other players, Sea of Thieves provides a multitude of different experiences that are memorable and fun and can be maximized if those potential scenarios and events are witnessed by you and your friends.

Now if your thinking why not make new friends online. Well, it's not easy talking to someone who just blasts music in their mic and had the luxury to be accepted into the alpha with their friends. My typical encounter with a new crew is: "Hey guys" -white screen fade- JAIL.

This then pushed me to play the game alone on a solitude ship, Imagine sailing alone without anyone playing music for you, without anyone saying "LOOK SHIP ON THE LEFT", without anyone helping you navigate, without somebody to talk as you sail the open seas and lastly pulling to close to an island with cannons is the death of one sole pirate because when there are holes in your ship, you gotta patch them up yourself and by the time you do that your ship sinks.

A lot of people would agree that sailing with a full crew can bring the best experience during their playtime and when it's with people your close too it opens up new Segways in the game experience. Imagine grouping up with three of your buddies, you get to talk to your friends and laugh about some raids, encounter some fierce pirate ship battles where you're not the only one fixing up your ship, while you all convene in the crews quarters and drink grog till you drop.

"Why don't you get your friends to pre-order the game then?", It's all about the experience, imagine persuading your friends to play SoT and they're not that much into the game, sure Pre-ordering is an option, but if you allow friend invites imagine how much more fun the beta can be. Let us test out the game with a crew willing to plunder and loot with the most fun possible.

In the end, letting people in the beta invite their friends won't really be a bad thing, it opens new experiences in the game to be witnessed by you and your friends and also makes the game 10x more fun than it already is!
