Molten Sands Fort Quest Is Tedious

  • I already dont enjoy fighting the guardian for the key because he does nothing but waste your time and has too much HP even solo, but then having to sail all the way to molten sands to do a gauntlet on an island that erupts while skele ships harass you is not exciting its annoying. Even with another ship helping me it was just obnoxious and all the chores beforehand i had to do could have taken even longer if i didnt get the emissary quest from ancient spire outpost. This is something worth doing 6 times for each company? Are we hiring bungie employees to make content?

  • Luckily they removed the requirement to turn in the orbs in order to get the ship crests. All you get for doing that part is renown.

  • Well, nobody says you have to do it.

If its tedious, hard, grindy, to long. Dont bother with the work, Just camp the area and wait for someone else to finish and collect the rewards afterwards. Muhahaha

on an island that erupts while skele ships harass you is not exciting its annoying.

Ive never had skeleton ships attack or island erupt. Now it does rumble and island gets dangerous but never saw it explode. (unless its bugged. Go figure)

This is something worth doing 6 times for each company?

If you want the season rewards, yes. If not. No.

  • Honestly, I am disliking this event because after four tries of trying to do it, I get hunted down by grief and no lifers and can’t make no progress when it comes to trying to fight off these ships with my crews & everyone just quit after the second or third sink trying to fight sloops of the worst people that crew them & i’m more contempt to sit at a dock and watch a ship burn for hours then partake in this event. 😒👎🏻

  • @mace-the-ace584

So its not about the event, its fact other players are also doing it.

  • @burnbacon
Literally, most of them were not even going for the loot, they’re just holding people off from doing the fort, I finally managed to get a session to where I can be able to get it without much problems

  • @mace-the-ace584 Glad you didn’t give up and were able to finally get-er-done! Only what now, 5 more times? 😂

He's fine. Use Sniper/Sword. When he is uncloaked get in close and do multiple swipes while you can. Sniper for distance.
He can be defeated in a few minutes.

  • "This is the game" as they say. Tediousness has always been Sea of Thieves thing. It stinks we were shifting away from that and making things more about shorter sessions and easier to accomplish goals and less FOMO so the updates they would add you could casually work on over years rather than having to dedicate the whole month to playing SoT. Now we are shifting back to year 1 levels of FOMO, making the events more time consuming when the whole world is shifting toward wanting to spend less time on everything. Oh I need a door installed on my home... It can't happen Tomorrow?!? This is an outrage!!! I'm going somewhere else!

It is insane the numbers they went with doing it 6 times each? I thought it would even be too much at 3... But making us have to do it more times means more opportunity to get sunk and ruin our day. The sad reality is because they are obsessed with the PvP portion of the game they need to insure the PvE players are out there working on content long enough that the PvPers have more people to prey upon. Then they are going to talk about how they want to combat toxicity..... Your game is designed to create toxicity. Events like this are a perfect example. Internally they are all co-workers and when they go fight each other it's laughs all around. Encounters of Real players out in the wild dealing with strangers and sweat lords... That's a whole different dynamic.

  • Throwing knives are meta. It's still a tedious fort to solo, but it's not awful.

Here's the speed-run I was able to do this same method twice as a solo. I was lucky enough to not have the volcano on Molten Sands explode either time. Make sure you have Captaincy meats and are cooking it between sailing/diving/fighting Skelly ships/etc. It makes life easier.

1). Dive to a Skeleton Fleet Raid for whatever Emissary. That'll get you to Grade 5. ~10 mins
2). Sail to Dagger Tooth. ~2-3 mins
3). Grab Emissary Quest and it SHOULD be Sunken Grove for your Eternal Guard location. Sail over there. ~2 mins
4). Strictly spamming throwing knives on the Eternal Guard, I was able to defeat it in ~10 mins
5). Collect key and head over to Molten Sands. ~7-10 mins depending on wind
6). Again, strictly spamming throwing knives on the bosses and using fire bombs for the mobs (and having a pocket full of cooked meats), I was able to complete the fort in ~15 mins

All done in under an hour. Start to finish.

Now... Solo loading out that immense amount of loot from that dreadful fort? Add another hour 😂🤣☠️

I just grabbed the COF, Ashen Athena, and the Orb, and dipped. I had no interest in loading out the rest of that stuff as a solo.

This guy was buffed against throwing knives. Can be done quicker with sword and ranged weapon of yer choice.

Interesting! I'll try that on my next run and see if I can get it done any faster. The DPS with throwing knives is still crazy, but I'll give it a whirl!

Might have to wait until the new content is a bit older, it was PvP central for hours last night. Fun night. Sunk 7 boats whilst trying to do the fog-covered fort, but inevitably running out of supplies got us. Having contested content in a part of the map with limited supplies is rough.
    Statement for the night tho;
"But we're two galleons (we ended up with 6+ boarding players on our boat at the death), why would you take on two galleons?" LOL
