Feedback Regarding Hourglass Stats

  • Hi Sea of Thieves Team,
I wanted to share some feedback regarding Hourglass stat visibility on console, especially after deleting a pirate for a stat reset.

After creating a new pirate, I noticed that certain Hourglass stats—such as streak and sink totals—appear to remain tied to the account rather than the individual pirate.

There is no in-game indication that these stats persist across pirates, and this isn’t mentioned anywhere during the deletion/reset process.

On console, the stats shown in-game differ from those displayed on the website, and because the true values can only be seen online, it becomes confusing and requires constantly switching between PS5 and the website to understand what my actual stats are. The inconsistency makes it unclear what has been reset and what remains account-bound. It feels very haphazard and labourious. And In a way punishes those who seek a fresh start.

*It would be extremely helpful if:
There was clearer communication in-game about which stats carry over when deleting a pirate.
*Console players had access to the same detailed, accurate stat breakdowns available on the website.
*Hourglass stats displayed consistently across all platforms.

Thank you for taking the time to read this feedback and for your continued work on the game.
    Kind regards,
    MrChimbler

Wait. You said you wanted a fresh start...BUT you created a new Pirate Profile..under the same account. How is that a fresh start?

Create a whole new account if you want a fresh beginning. You only made a profile of a pirate.

If the sole reason you thought making a new profile would make your W/L stats shift, that on you.

Totally get you — I’m just saying as a newer PS5 player it wasn’t clear that Hourglass stats were account-locked. Console doesn’t show that info, so clearer communication would just help others avoid the same confusion.

  • Did you know? Sea of Thieves is the game I've played that relies the most on external websites and outside information.

The game has very few tutorials. It wasn't until I had over 2,500 hours of gameplay that I learned sailing approximately 5 squares on the map equals 1 nautical mile. (I figured this out while testing for commendations—the game never tells you this anywhere.)

There are some strange journals in the game that aren’t related to tall tales. These logs contain clues pointing to certain things, but I can’t figure out what they are just from the game content.
Unless I constantly follow their X account, YouTube, Twitch, etc., I have no idea what they’re talking about.

During the Christmas event in December 2025, going to the Reaper’s Hideout and interacting with the orb allowed you to obtain a lantern cosmetic.
But I never saw any guidance in the game about this. It was entirely thanks to the community and forums elsewhere, where someone compiled and shared this information.

As for my thoughts on your suggestions: Forget it, the developers probably don’t care anyway.

  • @mr-spx-ss Thanks for the feedback, I'm slowly realising they really don't care. But thought it was worth a mention
