Hunter's Call loot seems too rare

Dont focus on completing commendations so quickly. That is a big error in players, when you do. You get tired of the slow progress.
Just allow it to happen as you play....

I'd wait a week or two, and see if they decide to make adjustments. Anything can happen so don't get tired out.

You seem to be right, the amount needed have been reduced by today's patch.
It may have increased the droprate, but I will update if my experience differ after the update.

Alright I've slain a few more megalodons, and I've gotten, 1 more Pristine Megalodon Tooth.

According to the Wiki, you can get 0-3 Scales or Tooth from each meg, and that should be fine, if the drop-rates were more common, but it not even a 50% chance to drop at all. This is my experience, if you have gotten more teeth or scales, please let me know.

It just feels so odd, given how a lot of new quests have such little RNG to them.
You are always guaranteed these low-value treasure items from the quests, if you want the good stuff, you need to the raids. It just feels weird, to have Hunter's call be the new Athena's Fortune, where you only get loot from the quests. In addition, you ONLY get low-value loot from quests, or most of it is (also similar to early Athena). I get so many bags of Bait that sells for nothing. Weirder still, you get decent bang for your bucks selling Treasured Fish, so why do we only get low-tier loot from the Boar and Megalodon quests? Especially when the Meg hunts requires so much sailing and work to complete. It doesn't add up for me.

Its just so jarring to me.

There is NO RNG in HC quests, or Roaming Boars when it comes to loot. You always know what you get.
Then you have two specific pieces of loot, that are RNG only, no reliable way to collect or hunt them.

(Side not: Love the current event, if you want to change this, but wants to wait until after the event, I am fine with that. I just want Hunter's Call to be on par with Gold Hoarder, Merchants Alliance, Order of Souls, and NOT how Athena used to be)

Thank you for your input. Unfortunately, I am referring to the Megalodon Teeth and Scales acquired from regular emergent Megs, not the ancient ones.

@themetalman4011 I think they are intended to mostly be received from the Ancient megs as the main source, which I believe is what the wiki means by 0-3

Unless you mean there is a 3rd type now? I have only just started playing again after a couple months and took the addition of HC loot the meg/kraken pool to mean the 2 existing scales/teeth, and making that grind slightly better, but if there is a 3rd type not labeled as barnacled or redmaw and it only comes from normal megs then yeah…..

ETA: My apologies, apparently there is indeed a 3rd type that was added and I mistook them discussing teeth/scales to mean the other 2. That does sound like awful RNG. And I am out of the loop from such a short break lol

Do not worry my friend. If nothing else, it is interesting to see someone's else's stats.
It also mirrors my exerience where the Barnacled seems to drops more teeth and the Rewmaw drops more scales.
Ain't that odd?

I have played a bit more, I've slain every ambient meg I've come across, got to be at least 15 at this point. And I have only gotten 2 Pristine Teeth and 0 Pristine Scales.
I did get 1 Pristine tooth and 1 Pristine Tusk from a Kraken of the 5 or 6 krakens I've killed when they increased the spawnrate.
I've yet to see any Hunters Call loot from Ambient Megs that wasn't a Hunting Spear.

That is not why I am updating you lot though. When I killed a meg recently, an Ancient Terror after a normal Meg Hunt Quest, it did drop one piece of Hunters Call loot.

I killed an emergent meg. I got a skull or two, merchant crates, a GH chest, 1 hunting spear, and a pristine boar tusk. I find an emergent boar wallow, and get either a pristine meg tooth/scale, or a tooth/scale from Red Maw or Baracled Dread, with other pieces related to HC. It just seems backwards to me, that we get pristine teeth/scales from wallows, and boar tusks from emergent megs.

My suggestion for the dev team would be to, at least, eliminate the ancient megs loot from the normal megs and boars.

I agree, it doesn't make much sense for them to be in the emergent megs. My best guess is that they just have everything classified as "Hunter call loot", and it picks a random piece from that pool.

Now that seems odd. I haven't seen any Emergent Boars in a while, last I saw them, they didn't give any HC loot.

The situation with Hunters Call loot is very weird to me.

I keep running into Empty Boar wallows, which feels weird.

And I killed a meg a bit ago and I got a Pristine Tusk, no teeth or scales though.
At this point, I've finished all commendations for Hunters call, except for Pristine Scales and Teeth, Miles sailed and Quests completed. Will work on them soon however.

One of my friends has had a bit more luck with the Pristine Scales, I just dont understand why its not a guaranteed drop, since the only Hunters call loot I get from Krakens and Megs, are hunting spears.
