Toxic players.

  • I recently decided to pick up the game again after some time due to the toxicity of the players. I reported a few players tonight mostly from the reapers guild, that were ad toxicity as they could be ( spawn trapping, laughing at you dying, movement exploits etc.) The players in question were on a emissary 5 reaper guild that just popped into the match at an outpost was not on the server or in the world previously at all, then disappeared from the server, only to return again 5 minutes later. I've noticed alot of these players are on PC that this is happening from and it's just to the point where someone always ruins the game. They were one shooting us as well and just waiting on our boat to kill us over and over again and when they were asked to stop, they just said to bad scuttle your ship then. Also some how they can be in their boat and make it across the map and catch up with you in no time.

When someone is behind you, you are basically defenseless and just hope you can out run them. I woild like to see cannons placed on the back of boats so that some of us (that are in a sloop with just 2-3 people because that's all you can get to join) actually have a fighting chance to deter those attempting to attack, sink your ship, or be toxic.

The game can be alot of fun fighting skeleton ships or launching cannon balls as skeletons on shore, but there needs to be a balance, it almost feels when you have a bigger ship/crew behind you, the only option is to scuttle your ship and start over, and that is what can drive newer players away from the game

  • If they were actually being toxic, by all means report them.

Your wording is slightly hard to read, "They were one shooting us as well and just waiting on our boat to kill us over and over again" Was one shooting you with cannons and the others spawn killing? That's not a bannable offence since it seems like the boarders were stopping you from repairing. If they repairing/bucketing your boat to kill you that would be.

I don't think laughing is toxic, more like trash talk maybe. But if they were using slurs etc that would also be bannable.

The popping in and out the server might be a failed dive, or a different boat altogether.

"When someone is behind you, you are basically defenseless" If you turn your boat you can actually fire the cannons at them.

All these things become much less of a problem with more game knowledge. Out smarting, out sailing and mechanical skill will come if you keep playing. Don't let people like that discourage you. Your boat just respawns 30 seconds later anyway.

Thats not toxic, its not spawn trapping its just keeping you on ferry so you cant repair, there is also button to scuttle at ferry if you get camped.

Moving expoits like what, bcs we can see you are new player.

Seems to me you trying to find every reason why to reporting someone for killing you, they are not ruining this game, they are reapers and you wanna fight them when you taking emissary so they can see you at map.

When they are behind you, just go front of wind with sloop, you will be faster.

If you dont like pvp just play PvE, but stop saying someone is toxic only cuz they killed you many times and they laugh at you, thats not toxic.

Yes, this game is lot of fun, but you need to remember you playing SEA OF THIEVES not SEA OF FRIENDS, if you are new players you can choose what you will play, you wanted PvPvE for better rewards, you got what you choosed.

  • So OP reported server-hopping reapers engaging ships.
Being told "har har you ded XD" after being sunk isn't toxic. They even encouraged you to scuttle, which you should have done since you had lost your fight anyways. If they wanted to grief you for real, they surely would have preferred you stayed instead of scuttling.

I'm kinda thinking that you would have been equally salty even if they wouldn't have uttered a single word. Like @LilMik4il said, looks like you are looking for reasons to get back at them and get them banned.

Baseless accusations and reports like these hinder the process of getting real offenders that hurl slurs and unacceptable racist, homophobic and sexist attacks caught.

If you don't want to play against PC players or players at all, just change your preferences of servers or do safer seas.

  • @bloodybil they litterly just all sat on the boat and as soon as one came back in they were right there and boom dead, I'm all about the game, but this us just one issue with it. They then hit you with every single cannon ball they shoot at you from a distance while you are moving in high seas? Seems a lil bit odd to me

Were they supposed to let you repair your ship while they wait to sink you?

And? Sounds like skill to me. Things "seeming a bit odd" isn't really proof of anything, people can be under the impression that something fishy is going on and they just don't know any better. I've seen people calling other cheaters because they thought they were teleporting on their ship, yet they just had managed to board and hide and the others weren't aware enough to realize it for example. People would think ships "came out of nowhere" yet they just didn't look around enough.

Can't always blame the others for our shortcomings, we live and learn. Saying "no please don't sink us" to pirates, when you have loot/flags/supplies on board don't really work, can't blame others to want to take it if they feel like it.

  • @gen-reaper1517
Yes, should they let you live and rapair your ship? You good?

So i was right, you looking for every reason to ban them bcs they playing game normal way and you got hurt because you lost your loot in SEA OF THIEVES.

This should be bannable reporting players for playing normaly and reporting them for toxicity when they just smile at you, i guess they smiled bcs you started being toxic at them, not them at you.

  • @gen-reaper1517 if someone is being toxic and abusive, then report them and let Rare be the judges of it and decide if appropriate action is needed. But coming on here and looking for forum members to hold your hand and offer a shoulder to cry on isn’t going to get you sympathy, even if you aren’t a new player.

Exactly, there is a difference with a true toxic encounter and a regular PVP one, people need to stop watering down that word, it already means so little anymore.

Attacking another ship in this game isn't any more toxic than scoring on someone else's goal playing football. Even if you ask the other players to stop trying to shoot in yours, it's simply part of the game. Either take your ball home and play by yourself, or accept that you are in a shared field.

Lately people act this dramatically on the field though:

It's just a ship, you respawn, get a new one and move on to the next adventure.

  • If you believe a player has been toxic in the game or suspect foul-play, you can report them to Xbox Live here. You can also submit a support ticket via Rare Player Support. As this is a matter for Support and not the Forums, I'll be dropping anchor here.
