The throwing knives are fun to use because they are new but I can't seem to find a way to justify equipping them vs the traditional double gun loadout. My biggest gripe is with the heavy stab attack. It was presented as a way to "sneak up behind players" But why would I bring the knives for that purpose when the blunderbuss exists? I have to wait for the charge to complete and I'm slowed down massively while doing so giving the opponent a good amount time to get out of the way (even if they aren't aware of my presence). When I do wait for the perfect moment and land the stab it doesn't even 1 shot and I'm stuck in recovery. Now if you compare that to just running up and pressing left click, Right trigger, etc and insta-killing with the blunder with no charge up time or movement speed penalty it becomes very clear which weapon is better for that purpose. I'm absolutely ok with having a long charge time and movement penalty attached to the heavy stab but I should be rewarded for landing it accordingly, which is why I think the heavy stab should 1 shot.
I can't really comment to much on the ranged attack because the velocity is still something I have to get used to but I think in the long run it will still be obsolete to double gunning. it might be worth looking into buffing the velocity speed of the throw attack at the cost of some damage.
If the person you're fighting has a sword you just get deleted since they can block the quick stab and the ranged throws. I'm pretty sure the heavy stab is unblockable but like I stated above, you have to charge the attack giving a aware sword user more than enough time to react causing you to whiff. I like weapons having advantages and disadvantages as I believe it promotes loadout variety but right now I see no reason why you would pick the throwing knives in particular vs any of the other weapons in the game currently.
TLDR:
Make heavy stab 1 shot
Buff projectile velocity on throwing knives and fine tune damage accordingly (Maybe?)
