So, how was the Mystery Solved? Would anyone mind giving a brief explanation on the steps taken, because I am still a bit confused how 2FACED was gotten.
The letter, combined with a "livestream" of parrots doing parrot things in the Tavern, led to a list of sometimes hard-to-hear words (that quickly got corrected by Rare through an official subtitle file) and a Pigpen code on a banana eaten by a parrot.
The Pigpen code translated to "whatthreewords", which is a website using words as coordinates on a map. And a Google Maps link hidden in the YouTube version of the video hinted at a map, too.
Then everybody got stuck on which three words from the parrot video to use, for at least a day or two, until "someone" (whose messages got deleted quickly thereafter) reminded discord that Rare's team did visit the Cutty Sark museum on video, once, and that maybe, if a pirate wanted to get things moving along, they should take a look there and make sure to look 360 ° around them.
Rapidly, someone found out that three particular words (turkey.goat.lives - why those three, who knows ?) lead to the Cutty Sark museum through what3words, and then, looking at user-added content in 360° pics on google maps for this particular location, they found a turkey, a goat, and a parrot on a board with another PigPen to another bit.ly link.
There, there was an encoded parchment, and using the shanty clue from the original letter, pirates realized said parchment was the We Shall Sail Together shanty encoded phonetically, and the last line, once decoded that way, read "Xbox Wire marks the spot".
People then looked at the recent Xbox Wire publication re: the treasure hunt, where Rare had added a parrot on a picture, and when they looked at said image at the pixel level, they noticed a small blue X, with said blue being color-coded 2faced.
There you go. The more detailed walkthrough version with pics is on Rarethief (except the part where clearly, someone nudged the players in the right direction at the what3words stage, but everybody is pretending it didn't happen).
EDIT : others were faster than me, and more concise. Oh well.
