Hunter's Call improvement/rework suggestions

  • First off, I will say this was partially inspired by watching Netflix's The Sea Beast movie.

So, to start I think the Hunter's Call could use some voyages, here are some examples I've thought of, that are a sort of combination between current Merchant, and Order of Souls Voyages.

    Bounties:
You get a quest telling you a specific kind of megalodon was spotting near an island/at a map coordinate, and when you get there it spawns and you have to fight it.
Or, perhaps more similarly to merchant lost shipment voyages, you have to find pieces of the last ship that previously was tracking the monster, ending with the fight.
The Megalodons/Krakens you fight in this voyage would increase in difficulty the higher level you are, like other voyages.

    Fishing quests:
You're tasked with catching a certain amount of a certain fish, the quest gives you a location that makes it more likely to catch them.
(higher levels require more, or more difficult to catch/more trophy fish.)

Other quests: Possibly some voyages for hunting down Ocean Crawlers or Sirens?

    Trophies:
After defeating a sea-monster, (Kraken, Meg) they drop a trophy, (jaws, teeth, tentacle?) as well as the current food, the trophy can be handed in to the Hunter's Call for similar amounts of monet as a cursed chest, merchant manifest, or similar. (increasing in value the higher the level voyage)

    Other Suggestions:
Remodel the Seaposts to make them more like Port Merrick and the Fortresses, and PLEASE make the water near them calm.
Possibly rework the meg fights to be a bit more exciting, rather than just having them circle and eventually going in for a bite attack, at least for the higher levels.
    More sea-monsters? Perhaps a Sea-Serpent?

  • Yes please. Sea of Thieves needs more regular injections of replayable content and this works fine. Maybe they can also give players a very small chance that when they check the Hunters Call voyages, there's a voyage to hunt a Ghost. Or the regular Meg voyage could have a Ghost.

  • If they had a voyage to hunt megs just like with the Shrouded Deep event which let us manually summon megs and fight a shrouded ghost at the end none of these kills would count for milestones. So if that is what you are hoping for they could add that but you wont get the commendations/milestones you might be after. Which for some reputation means nothing since we have been maxed for years so the only reason we even kill any of them is due to the progress wipe that came with captaincy.

Megs and Krakens used to literally drop nothing. So you do at least now get meat though the idea of a trophy that is valuable to the hunters call and would give a good amount of rep sounds cool.

I guess the reason you think the seaposts should be remodeled is because they renamed Golden Sands implying that hunters call has become more significant which isn't the case. Merrick was just a major figure in the game before they even thought up hunters call. It would be nice for the water to be calm around them so you could park in a storm and not have to worry about holes. Would make more sense to rework all the outposts since we are flooding them with money. Port Merrick has the history behind it of reapers attacking so they needed to rebuild so why not get fancy with it. But they could use the sovereigns as an excuse for every other island being remodeled. I have a feeling though that Port Merrick is meant to be unique and they wont be touching the other outposts. Which makes it weird that Port Merrick is clashes with the aesthetic of the rest of the world

Hunters Call at least did get a little boost with them adding the ability to sell fish to sovereigns they made it so direct sales to sea posts would give you more money and rep. So then selling during gold rush to hunters call is even more beneficial.

  • I've posted alot about needing a Hunter's call emissary and lots of similar things as you describe, I think their saving it for future content updates.

Also that movie was fantastic. Had me thinking we need ship attachments for sea monster hunting like giant harpoon lances or something.
