Sea of the Damned - Beginning

  • Ahoy mateys.
Before I start, I want to thank the Captain Guyrza for giving me an opportunity to use him topic as inspiration for this topic. Also, I would recommend to ye to visit him topic, "Sea of the Damned area", leave a like and comment below it.
      Now, let's get started.
Sea of the Damned  is a ghostly dimension, through which the Ferry of the Damned travels as it transports the souls of deceased pirates. The region can be accessed only via a Tunnel of the Damned and only while doing/completing A Pirate's Life Tall Tales with exception of an Adventure: A Hunter's Cry. But, what if we could access it as a new region? As a new place where we can sail to complete not only tall tales & adventures, but also voyages & World Events? That's what this topic about.
To access the Sea of the Damned Region you will need to complete a Voyage. The voyage will be called "Over The Edge, Over Again".  Such voyage can be purchased from Pirate Lord himself. Such voyage will cost differently based on yer ship type (Standard or Captain's Ship). For Standard ship it will cost 50 dobloons, while for Captain's ship it will cost 200 dobloons (I will explain why later on).
After purchasing and voting for such voyage you will be given an X mark type map of the outpost, on which you are on, where, you will need to find the "treasure" (For Golden Sand Outpost you will need just find it in the tavern or among buildings/ inside them, while for other outposts you will need to dig it up). Your "treasure" will be "the staff" - Trident of Dark Tides with Ancient Gold Hoarder Skull attached to it.
If your ship is Captain's Ship, then this artifact will be permanently added to your ship, you will find it always at your Captain's cabin.
If you have standard ship then your stuff will dissolve in air after leaving the game, which means ye will need to buy such voyage again.
After picking up the staff ye will need to sail toward the Tunnel of the Damned. While sailing toward it you will hear different whispers coming from Trident. After reaching particular distance the Whispers will be so loud that everyone around you will hear them, then the eyes of Skull will glove with Cursed Flames and the Tunnel of the Damned will be open for you to sail into the Sea of The Damned. As you enter the tunnel (before getting cutscene/black sceen) you will hear familiar voice, who will say such words: " Over The Edge, Over Again".
Upon arriving at the Sea of the Damned you will find yourself in uncharted seas, in the mist. Don't try look at map, it won't help (the map is blank). However, if you will sail straight, mist will clear and you will find yourself infront of the Tavern of the Damned (same tavern from Pirate's Life Tall Tales: Captain's of the Damned).
After arriving there, you will first be recognised by ye old friend, Cursed Captain, who guards the entrance to that tavern. After a small conversation with ye and himself, he will let you inside.
The Tavern will look exactly the same the day you left it with Captain Jack Sparrow. Only thing which will be different that you won't find Captain Jack Sparrow, Sir Arthur Pendragon, Rose and George there.
To enter the "Pirate Legend Tavern of the Damned" you will need to play the shanty "We Shall Sail Togeter" infront of the door, which is located next to the tavernkeeper Teddy. As you play the shanty the candles will ignite and the Pirate Legend Mark will appear on the door and glow. After that the door will open leading you inside.
The tunnel which you will need to go through will be filled with traps. To activate traps you will need to step on wooden platform. To deactivate traps at the end of the tunnel will be a lever, you can also activate traps with lever.
If you successfully walked out of the tunnel without "accidents", you will find yourself in the very heart of the Tavern of the Damned.
This place will be amaizing. The Tavern Will look like a circle, build out of shipwreck with bridges and ladders connecting them. With plants and palm trees growing out of and on them, and with a magestic waterfalls. There you will find ghostly representatives of trading companies (Gold Hoarders, Order of Souls, Merchant Alliance, Sovereigns, Hunter Call, Athenas Fortune), shopkeepers and shipwright. At the very middle of it will be a map of the Sea of the Damned ( at the beginning it will be a smaller map, but as Sea of the Damned will progress, map will expand with new regions & islands. But the regions, which will be added to Sea of the Damned won't work as the regions in Sea of Thieves. They will work as one at a time. In another words, you will have access to one at a time, while others will be protected by mists. After a given amount of time another region will be available, while others including previous would be protected by mists again) and table with chairs. You will also meet there few familiar faces, such as: Belle (Athenas Fortune representative), Eli Slate and his crew (Fontaine & Dinger), Ancients and Merrick (Hunter Call Representative).
After interacting with Belle and others you will find out about a compass, which you can find on the table. It will look exactly the same as Belle's compass, which will lead you in this seas (if you are on Captain's Ship it will be permanently added to your ship, you will find it in Captain's cabin next to Captain's logbook). This compass will point which region is available at the time in Sea of the Damned.

P.S. There is no current idea how many regions will be there and what type they will be, therefore I will leave it for the next topic or topics. For now there will be only this tavern in which you can buy some cosmetics, supplies for yer ship and restore it. Also, you will be able to fish there, if you check out my topic: "Hunter Call Update" ye will know, which exact fish ye will catch. And the World Event: " Tavern Raid" (Name In Progress), which I will describe in another topic.

That's it, for now. If you have any comments, concerns, changes you want to add or remove, then leave your comment below. Otherwise, I wish you to have a nice day or night and I will see you on the seas.

    With Best Regards,

    Selgewick The Seaman

  • This is a great idea! I think that this would be a great addition to the game! All we need now is to hope Rare takes this feedback and refines it how they want to. Another idea is to have more content in the Sea of the Dammed. Fingers crossed Rare 🤞
