Howdy!
I've played SoT for a bit now and I keep coming back to thinking about how this game is managed as a Game as a Service(GaaS). I've run into many people who don't seem to understand how difficult it is to manage something of such scale and to keep such a stellar uptime on the servers. It's quite a lot and I appreciate all of the hard work that goes into it.
In the recent sneak peak for Season 9, it was hinted that the harpoons may have new functionality so that they will automatically put loot onto the ship when harpooned. This got me to thinking about the developer's motivation to make this change. While it's obviously a Quality of Life change, did this change arise from a place of "in what ways can we reduce the total number of inputs into our servers as to help with server stability"? If not, was this point ever brought up in discussions of the change?
BONUS QUESTION: What are some of your major goals for this game in terms of continued development of the game?
Thank you for the awesome game!
