Steam - My License is gone...

  • I need help. I just tried to play my Steam purchased version of Sea Of Thieves after not playing for quite a long time. I tried to sign on and it kicked me off seeming to indicate I no longer have a license.

So then i tried to create a support ticket on Microsoft Sea Of Thieves Site, but they said that I can't unless I own the game.
I reported this to Steam and the said they can't do anything about it, and sent me another link they thought I should be able to send support a ticket. But when I tried to fill out the form, and give a description of the issue, and then enter my steamID. When i hit submit it says 'Forbidden'. But it doesn't tell me why, or anything.

I am so bloody frustrated by Microsoft, what a stupid way to handle support. And where is my license. I bought two one for my son and one for myself and we play together sometimes. And now it is gone. His still works fine...

Now i have no way to reach Microsoft to tell them they are idiots, and please re-instate my license which I have proof I purchased.

I have never been more frustrated trying to solve a support issue. They won't even let me send in a ticket.. how is that support...

  • Weird I just on a whim tried to refresh and reenter everything the same on that site, and this time it went through and created a ticket, no 'Forbidden' pop-up. Why in the heck?

Anyway, hopefully I will get some help now... finally... it's been over a week writing back and forth to steam with no luck... and unable to get anyone at microsoft to even talk to...

  • Guess what Microsoft's response was...

    Go talk to Steam...
Meanwhile Steam told me to contact Microsoft...

I love modern day support. Microsoft should't call it support, I don't know what you call it, but it certainly isn't support...

  • Is there no record of your steam activity, like hours played or achievements?

  • There must be yes. But I can't sign onto the game to find out...

  • But yea, on steam it shows 32/208 achievements unlocked...

But my linked Microsoft account seems to think I never owned the game.
Even though I have an old support ticket for help in game, and the weird part is that I could not have opened that ticket unless I owned the game the way their support works for that.

And so of course microsoft support doesn't even bother checking before sending a form letter response...

    Hello there,

Please contact Steam Support regarding this inquiry.
We're not directly involved with the retail process.

    Regards,

  • I sent them the proof of purchase page on steam, and the support team response saying I need to contact microsoft.
Hopefully they actually respond. For all I know they closed the ticket on their side and wont' even read my reply.
    But guess we'll see.

  • Oh man, I hope you resolve this. Just wanted to ask, by any chance have you refunded the game long time ago and don't remember it. But also I doubt you could unlock 38 achievements in less than 2 hours starting fresh.

I had/have similar problem with Heroes of might and magic 7.

I bought the game on steam, but the game requires this dumb ubisoft launcher. When I launch the game it asks me for a license or something as well. I write a ticket to ubi - they refer me to steam since I bought it there, I send my ticket to steam they direct me to ubisoft. So the money is paid, the game's in the library, can't play it. Never had any problems when a game does not require a separate account. If I remember correctly the proof I needed to provide them is on an email account that does not exist anymore.

So I don't know if this would help, but maybe if you could provide them proof of purchase all the emails etc, perhaps they could go out of their way to help you.

Was your purchase a fair and square one from steam store, or was it some key site or something?
