To play on Steam it still asks to link to the Xbox account that started SoT. But if SoT does not work on Steam, the Xbox account will not detect that you own the game? Talking about PC not about console Xbox. If they are the same as console, no way buying it twice, it is the only game that has such issue so certainly not changing things just for it. Just verifying info
If Sea of thieves is owned on Steam can it be installed via Xbox account (still on PC)
@impactor4883 I don’t think you need two copies of the game I think you just need a Microsoft account to link to tho I couldn’t tell you why that’s just my guess
@otherfanboy I think I read both that you need another copy (or maybe they were talking about Xbox console) and that you do not need another copy. My MS account is also the xbox log in on PC I started SoT with it but bought the game on Steam, I enter Xbox (MS) account on the Xbox app but it does not show I can freely install SoT only gamepass. It is linked to the Steam that is how I was able to enter the game from Steam before it started crashing, so Im trying now to start it via xbox install.
@impactor4883 No Steam is different to the pc ms store version and is outside of the xbox ecosystem so you will have to buy it twice. However if you bought the digital version on xbox or Pc ms store then they transfer over playable on both.
It is on gamepass so if you have that then yes just download it via the xbox app.@impactor4883 if you own the steam version, you will have to install from steam. To install the xbox version you need to own the Microsoft version either straight up, or via gamepass.
@captain-coel That is the answer I mostly saw, thanks, I found OBS studio also finding an error in the same dll file so I will try to fix it with steam
