New Hunter's Call

  • Hello!
First of all, I am not positive if it is the right option to choose, but here I go.
I think that Sea of Thieves' minor faction, Hunter's Call, is strongly underrated and is currently not being appreciated by almost every player. For that reason, I believe that there should be a major upgrade pertaining to this minor faction of Sea of Thieves.

    1. There should be Hunter's Call emissary and, like other emissaries, there should be emissary rewards per month.
    2. Hunter's Call should provide a number of voyages and adventures just like Order of Souls, Gold Hoarders, or Merchant Alliance. In terms of voyages, we could go on hunting for a specific rare fish type or we can just salvage it from a shipwreck.
    3. There should be a campfire at seaposts so that, even if sink, we can still cook fish.
    4. For fishermen, there should be crates of earthworms or grubs that they can purchase at Merchant Alliance officer.
    5. Fishing should be easier and more rewarding as the player levels up their Hunter's Call level or emissary. Catching a fish should be easier as we level up or the chances of getting bigger trophy fishes, some jackpots, or even other rarest fish should go up higher.
I had thought of this last night when I was trying to fish. And these are my thought pertaining to this subject. Thank you for your time.

    1. There should be Hunter's Call emissary and, like other emissaries, there should be emissary rewards per month.

There was a twitter post a while back with a ship in the background that looked like it had a white emissary flag. With that said, Twitter graphics are cursed so it could've been nothing.

    1. Hunter's Call should provide a number of voyages and adventures just like Order of Souls, Gold Hoarders, or Merchant Alliance. In terms of voyages, we could go on hunting for a specific rare fish type or we can just salvage it from a shipwreck.

They could bring back the fishing voyages from the fishing event and also add some megalodon hunting voyages.

    1. There should be a campfire at seaposts so that, even if sink, we can still cook fish.

I don't exactly get how you'll get the fish there without a boat, but they can always make use of that cosmetic cooking pot.

    1. For fishermen, there should be crates of earthworms or grubs that they can purchase at Merchant Alliance officer.

Maybe not from merchant alliance officers as they supply crates that you can sell to them, but they should definitely be buyable from hunters call representatives.

    1. Fishing should be easier and more rewarding as the player levels up their Hunter's Call level or emissary. Catching a fish should be easier as we level up or the chances of getting bigger trophy fishes, some jackpots, or even other rarest fish should go up higher.

This doesn't happen with normal emissaries, but maybe once you reach grade 5 you'll get maps with a location where you'll get an x amount of guaranteed trophy fish.

    100% agreement.

    Also 100% agreement.

I wouldn't be opposed to this, but I think Rare doesn't want us to be able to fish, cook, and turn in all at the same spot (without a ship present), so seapost campfires are probably never going to happen.

    1. For fishermen, there should be crates of earthworms or grubs that they can purchase at Merchant Alliance officer.

I have to disagree with this. Since specific bait can be dug up in different terrain (sand for grubs, waterline for leeches, grass for earthworms), this negates the need to buy them imo.

Easier? Please no. More rewards, perhaps new reward progression? Yes, please.

  • I absolutely agree with a purchasable bait option. I can't tell you how many times that I have dug for bait in places only for it to take forever to dig up the bait I want. Often when I am digging in green places for earthworms, it spawns grubs or nothing at all. Often when I am digging close to the waterline for leeches, I am getting grubs or nothing at all. In 15 minutes of digging one day, I counted maybe 3 earthworms when digging in green areas. It was frustrating. It's even worse when you try to go to even small islands with the amount of toxic PvE these days. Just give us the option to purchase bait. It saves a little time and doesn't hurt anyone.

The reason why a lot of players hate hunters call is because its a monotonous waste of time.

The fishing minigame is just time consuming as is the rest of the game. If the minigame was made more engaging or if there was some semblance of controlling which spawns of fish you were getting it would be fine.

A lot of the players who completed hunters call don't want to do it again because it took days, weeks, months to complete. As some of them you had to deal with annoying parts of the game.

Fishing in the storm while near a sunken ship, only to be hit by lightning when you finally catch the fish you need or having to spent hours just to get one of the trash peices (whatever the items were example : fish bones)

You want people to enjoy hunters call they have to make it actually engaging instead of, pull on this fishing rod until the fish gets tired and reel it in.

  • I highly agree and sometimes thought to create a post as well because they can push the fraction even better.

"In terms of voyages, we could go on hunting for a specific rare fish type or we can just salvage it from a shipwreck."

Defeating two Megs, Hunting down the kraken over the map with finally some loot, Catching Sharks, Trading fish crates to other outposts,
its quite easy to create content for hunters and a lot of it is already designed.

It could be the perfect mix between merchants and Order of souls. Fighting and trading.

Tons of potential! Way better than just adding some fancy monsters which quite dont fit in the game

  • If Hunters Call gets an emissary flag, that means they are opting in to fighting for their fish. I would be fine with this given some tweaks to how catches are stored to be put in line with loot from other companies. I however think you will get massive push back on this idea from people who enjoy fishing and not getting attacked.

    • They need to remove fish being stored in ship barrels (unless they are going to add floating barrels after you sink a ship full of their storage barrel contents) They can leave fish in storage and fruit crates as these can still be retrieved upon sinking.

    • They need to remove fish from being stored like food in player inventory and instead have them being dropped upon death.

  • Adding onto this idea, I think voyages to go out into the world to hunt down megs, kraken, and sirens would be a welcome addition.

Additionally, adding more sea and land life that we can hunt for resources/ingredients for cooking would be great.

I'd love to see an actual cooking system that acts as an incentive to actually go looking for food, instead of just doing it for commendations.

Much like Breath of the Wild, there could be different recipes that yield dishes that give better upgrades (health, poison resist, etc).

As a concept, you could combine: meg meat, luxurious spices, mangos, and chicken to make a sweet and spicy meat and fruit skewer that gives you full hp, as well as half a bar of regen.

Or combining snake meat, coconut, sugar, and spice could be some type of curry that prevents poison effect.

    Just some ideas :)!
