Why is it always on the map border? It's ages away for no reason. And on the common occurrence that it despawns, it spawns at the other end of the map. Why? It would be far more engaging and risky if it spawned near other islands. Making us traverse the entire map for it is ridiculous.

I can't say for sure if they are doing this, but I could see it having a higher chance of being near the outer reaches of the map as a way to increase the threat to those attempting to turn it in by having to sail it a longer distance.
Definitely not worth any extra time to go and retrieve unless they are on our path or close enough to detour.

It spawns all over the place; those that are close by islands or even the Reaper's Hideout just tend to be picked up sooner than the ones at the edge of the map because ships tend to be closer to those than on the edge of the map and it's quicker to turn in.I just wait for people to startle me at reapers hideout while im emissary 5 and selling by myself and sell their reaper chest that they just spent 30 minutes traveling the world for.
I dunno why but shooting me in the face while I'm minding my own business before selling their own chest is something that is far more common than it should be.
Tip: wait your dang turn or you might lose it.
or just sell it first before shooting me in the face because I'm not paying attention anyway
