I think it would be fun to have options to play games with other pirates, be they classic card games or Pirates Dice (Liars Dice, Perudos). It would make interaction with other friendly crews more relaxed. Especially if you could do it in taverns. It would be great fun to be able to sit in a tavern, play some cards or liar's dice, and drink from your mug.

I wouldn’t mind being able to gamble, but gambling for gold seems like a waste of time so it wouldn’t be very rewarding since gold is extremely easy to get.
Maybe doubloons? Doubloons imo are more valuable than gold, they are harder to come by and some cosmetics require up to 1500 doubloons. They would of course have to add more stuff that requires a decent amount of doubloons before it becomes a truly valuable currency.
