Using the Water Barrel to quench the Chest of Rage.

    I would like to put a suggestion in the "box". Have the Chest of Rage be able to be put into the Water Barrel and allow it to "simmer" in there instead of throwing water on it all the time.

    The caveat would be that you would require to refill the barrel at intervals, a pump would be required as frequently as the chest would normally rage.

    If you don't fill the barrel up it will ignite and not only start a fire, but also put the barrel out of commission for a bit... so you just can't pump water from the spigot to save the ship.

    throw that 70's dad chest on the bow and put the fire out every now and again

    I've had lots of battles while that thing was going off in the front just a bucket from time to time on the fire and it's not a big deal

    people need to stop putting that bad boy below deck

    @wolfmanbush Oh, I agree, don't get me wrong, but I am thinking for the long term. Unthankfully when people put it on the bow, they tend to put it on the tip, and my aim with a bucket sucks...

    This doesn't work - the Chest of Rage doesn't evaporate water from your ship, so you can't nullify the Chest of Sorrows at all. It'll just sit in the water that is pilling up and not do anything.

    If your on a sloop just put it on top of a barrel under the deck and put 7 buckets of sea water in your ship and the water wont boil and it wont set fire to your ship when it goes off. I believe its something like 13 buckets for a brig and I have no clue about a galleon

    It doesn't matter where it is on the bow you just throw water at the very front of the boat after it blows and it will put it out every time

    people very often aim too high

    always keep it on the bow always wait for it to blow and always aim low

    Not really. Even if this were possible it would never happen because once the Chest of Sorrows starts to spit water it covers the Chest of Rage, which means it cannot release fire.

    The timing of the Chest(s) of Rage throwing fire would have to be in exact timing step with the Chest of Sorrows. One chest has a timed trigger (which can be sped up with damage) and the other one is, as far as I know, random. You'd never get them to trigger at the same time reliably.

    It only takes a few buckets of water on any of the 3 ships with this setup, in my experience. Completely nullifies the chest of rage.

    Won't work so well on the sloop. Had a new-to-me crewmate the other day think this was a better place for it than the bow. Lit me on fire as I was trying to cannon another ship during battle. Unfortunately I previously got side swiped by a cannonball as well so was low health. Literally cost us the battle by the time I respawned.

    On the sloop, bow is the best spot. Takes forever for fire to spread from the bow as well so doesn't need to be put out immediately. Only has one grid to spread to from it. Probably applies to the brig as well because of the proximity of the cannons to below deck.

    @kommodoreyenser If you put it on the barrel on the very front of the ship on the lower deck your pirate will almost never get caught on fire and it won't set your ship on fire at all. #teambarrel

    @imperatormorsus what about being able to find a certain shanty to calm it down? Likewise with the Chest of Sorrow, being able to find a shanty to cheer it up! But if you had both on board, the respective shantys would have the opposite effect on eachother!

    Would have thought you would bring something up about the Chest of Rage being buoyed up by a force equal to the weight of the water displaced by the chest ...

    the entire point of those chests is risk/reward which is the opposite of convenience. It's supposed to be a pain in the booty and in exchange there is a decent payout

    Pirates choose if it's worth it to them or not then they either sacrifice the gold or they deal with it till they cash in

    Convenience is a safety net and safety nets don't belong in risk/reward scenarios

    @lem0n-curry lol indeed! I was just trying to be silly. The Sorrow chest will definitely drown the Rage chest.. and then some! Unchecked, the Sorrow chest will put the rage chest out and still sink the boat.

    @wolfmanbush I believe in working smart, not hard. So for me I would rather make a way without destroying my ship a way to transport explosive materials :)

    then put it on your bow and aim low at the fire and just put it out every couple minutes

    that's smart and not hard

    if anything they should modernize the value of the sorrows and rage and get rid of the ladder method for sorrow and increase damage for the rage on the bow

    Now that we have much more valuable loot with less danger of having it on board both the value and prices should be adjusted to make them more appealing

    The one safe way of transporting the Chest of Rage without having to worry about bucketing is to use the row boat, as the waves will naturally sweep over it occasionally and quench it. This way is smart, but whether it is "hard" depends upon how you look at it. Hard because you have to actually row to your destination (as well as navigate without a map), but conversely you don't need to worry about the chest going Ka-Bloomy on you.

    Placing it on top of the barrel or chests at the front of the sloop (haven't really tried it on the brig or galleon) with some water at about half-barrel height, as others have already said, has always worked for me. No fire, no boiling water. Easy!

    I mean that sounds like the exact same of management that comes with having one on board already. I grab a bucket and click a button to extinguish it once every 3 minutes and have to refill the water bucket. There's no real difference.
