Why have a brig in the sloop if it can't be used? Instead, why not have a nice little bed?
This would both open up more usable space in the sloop's lower deck and also make it look more like a boat someone actually lives in.
Suggestion: Replace the brig in the sloop with a bed.
Haha, I had the exact same idea earlier, personally I'd like to see options for different ship layouts, I understand the case for balance but as long as the amount of hole on a ship stays the same I see no problem.
@captainstab1n honestly the left side needs more spots to put holes imo, there's a lot of stuff blocking the hull from damage from that side, its much easier to sink a sloop on its starboard.

The idea is certainly not new, and yet hasn't been implemented - this leads me to believe that Rare has some as yet unexplained reason for keeping it.
As for using the extra space for an additional hole, that might be the reason right there - it may sink slower due to having potentially fewer holes. By the way, hitting the port side near the brig still results in holes - they just appear beneath the birdcage.
@galactic-geek Perhaps there is some unexplained reason or perhaps Rare just doesn't want to commit time and resources to this kind of, admittedly, unnecessary little thing. I think it would still be nice though, considering the brig is just wasted space right now.

If we wanted to get around this, perhaps a small shelf could be placed at the head of the bed to cover that area and give a reason for not changing where the holes go. It could be filled with random books and trinkets like in the captain's quarters of a Galleon, but to a much lesser extent.
As another option, perhaps a hammock could be attached to the wall there instead of a bed. That would be thematic and maybe it could block the wall off enough. Though depending on how it was done, that might remove the ability to place treasure in the area as easily, unlike the bed.

Can you say for certainty that if the 'current CAGE spot' is hit, that the hole does not appear in front of the mission table or a bit more to the front-site of the cage anyways?
