New Merchant Alliance Idea Involving Pets

  • I like pets. I'm sure you like pets. Seems to be a market for such things. A reasonable merchant alliance representative would pick up on the potential for profits here.

    Here's the idea.

    1. Current pet models would be added to the in game world as living creatures on the islands. Said animals could be tamed as a temporary session based pet. These models could be unclothed and possibly a little worse for wear as they are "wild". Upon leaving the session your animal would abandon you (it dosn't show in your pet chest at any point).

    2. Current models for existing andimals ( chicken, pig, snake ) would be added to the emporium with added cosmetics. And then be modified to function as a pet. The ones currently existing would gain the same function as the new pet models. They would be tameable! But only session based under the same restrictions as the current pets.

    3. Merchant alliance would now accept and provide voyages/cages for capturing, the new animals. This gives the SoT the needed lore to back up the new interest in more domestic animals, showing that since pirates are buying pets they could make some of the profit capturing animals to be sold to the emporium. Also explains the addition of the existing animals as new pets, merchants figured some people might like to keep a chicken around.

    This opens the door for a few things. One it's an on going incentive for players to buy a pet, haha never gonna have the same doggo or parrot unless you cau... Ehem.. unless you make a small purchase on the pirate emporium for you own hand picked animal of choice, and for another small payment you can dress them up! Two you can actually add some cool features to pets making them more interactive. Things that would, in the current system, be considered pay to win but in the new system, where everyone can have a temp pet at anytime and the only moment your at a disadvantage is the first minutes of the game, these things could actually be really cool and unique to a game title. This idea has the potential to make Rare more money by jealously factor alone. Oh you have some rugged generic pig. Well look at my solid gold cat! Or my doggo and his cute little peg leg! You think now that I actually have a pet in my hand, but never the same one, and always gotta find one each session that I'm not going to cave in to wanting to buy one that's always with me. One I can dress up and name. No one's at a disadvantage, and Rare makes more money giving the people "free" pets. All the while giving it a nice bow tie of an explanation lore wise with the Merchant Alliance. 🤑❤️
