  • I was hoping for more details. Not only 30 fps more.

    Hm...

  • They went all out this time on the console gpu if its comparible to a rtx 2080Ti if it can do 4k 60 fps, wonder at what detail setting.

My bad, thought it was a given at this point with the SSD'S.

So doesn't this create a rather large performance "disparity" for opt out preference players ?

  • @troubled-cells it will probably...but with a SSD on the XBoxOne it shouldn't be that much of a difference...
I play only on crossplay server anyway, because I use the chatpad on my controller, doesn't work on XBox servers...

The disparity was how load times were just better and the argument subsided when it was pointed out that SSD's don't come with a PC by default. That some PC and some xbox's have hard-drives and others have SSD's because of purchase.

This, however, comes with an SSD by default. By default it has everything the opt out community complained that PC had which made crossplay completely unfair.

So now we get to sit back and watch. Do they accept the situation that they agree that Series X is crossplay only or do they still try to fight saying that the Series X is fair in opt out because its a console lol.

  • @xultanis-dragon yeah, opt out threads incoming probably

I called this whole situation 13 odd months ago, and was constantly told it was irrelevant and didn't matter.

6 days to go, live by the sword and all that....

  • Why would there be opt out threads incoming. I seem to recall the biggest reason xbox players wanting to opt out was to not be paired with cheaters. And that's exactly why Rare delivered it.

This is incredibly false. Was never about the cheaters. For every post there was like 50 posts about hardware and 1 post about hackers.

Plus both hardwares have hackers. Right now the number 1 hack for xbox is players using M&K on controller only servers.

Wasn't it the m/kb advantage in a man on man fight with theyr turning speed?

To be fair it was input, hardware and cheaters that were the concerns, but in hindsight if you go look at the cross play opt out mega threads, only a few people used the cheating argument after exhausting arguments on input and performance for months on end.

Although cheating in this game is extremely rare, the way some people went on about it would have you think it was every other player.

  • @troubled-cells

How many thousand of threads did it take to get a mega thread?

But this was just one platform to voice an opinion.

    Keep those blinkers on!

Whatever makes you feel better buddy.

The sentiment and proceedings were similar on most platforms, including youtube and twitter.

How many threads and posts were smurf accounts after a few users on the pro opt out side went to far?

After all was said and done it was just a vocal minority.

  • I'm outraged. The Series X is capable of 120fps and you're capping it at 60? WHY? WHYYYYYY???

  • @NeedSmokes As your post was off topic for this thread, it has now been removed. Please ensure that you do not post unrelated comments to derail the topic of a thread.

The main issue with PC framerates is that without a state of the line machine, if even if you get 120 frames, its going to drop consistantly when the action hits.

120 droping to 80 or even 60 frames every half second for 30 seconds straight or what not.

Console prides itself on smooth CONSTANT framerates. Also with the higher framerates comes overheating issues and I'm pretty sure with how compact that console looks, no one wants to have to deal with the red ring of death because lets face it if you had options to choose 120 or 60 fps, a lot of you would choose 120. Lots of players would even if they put a warning saying it could damage the system.

Then they would have to deal with people wanting refunds for damage they knowingly caused.

  • But Microsoft said it themselves, at 12 teraflops, the console is capable of consistent 120fps on 4k.
Especially since you can choose if you play 1k, 2k or 4k, playing at 2k 120fps should never be a problem as the machine is working in within its limits. We're not talking about overclocking. That is just an excuse, really..

  • This has been such a long needed update.

I still dont know why they never implemented a 60FPS option for series x users though at a lower resolution / graphic setting.

Will be playing on series x next week via K+M

To be fair my GTX 1660 does dip around 60 mark at even 2k on a ryzen 3600.

I can see why the desicion was made to lock at 60, for now at least.

It really is probably for consistency for the FPS side. PC players are used to insane FPS drops. Console players not so much. Its not about overclocking either. A system running higher frames will use more power and it will create more heat. Thats just normal usage and has nothing to do with overclocking.

Can it run at 120fps 4k?? Most def. Should it?? Probably not, most players don't have a gaming specific TV. They have a good high def TV that was never optimized for gaming. It'll create an input lag and cause tearing. Not to mention those TV having to deal with consistent fps drops.

Players complain about spending an extra $100 to buy M&K when they started support for it. Think how bad it would be if they were told they have to buy a $500 to $2000 TV to get the most bang for their buck??

Most TV's now have at minimum a good 60 refresh rate frames.

They'll probably unlock the 120frames setting later after the initial launch. See how the console does under stress and usage.

  • Finally get to see someone playing on the series X. @18:27 https://youtu.be/gFbAe0cnbbg

Best we pretend we don't notice the horrible glitching stuttering jumpiness as the player nears the capstan. Oh dear!

More at 13:47 , but that jitter if they were playing on the servers recently is probably due to the lag.

I don't know if its effecting controller servers but since the update the lag is BAD on my servers. Rubberbanding down stairs, sword lunging into the air just to have my character teleport back to the ship and then fall off the ship.

Cannons not shooting for a full second after loading.

The lag has been BAD. At least for me and my crew it has, they played on my servers though so maybe just region based??

However, the ship combat looked clean so that jumpiness is probably lag.

  • Got my Series X set up, and my god its just like PC, super fast load times and silky smooth 60fps at 4K. (lag permitting)

I loaded in with my pc and XSX at the same time and both of them hit 2 full load screens and they were in the game at the same time.
