Captain Grimm

  • I just spent 45 mins fighting Captain Grimm and got seemingly nowhere.

I was playing with my son we were having heaps of fun. Saw the big flame tornado and though wow whats that lets go check it out!
When we got there this boss was summoned. We had heaps of fun for 5 mins or so beating him down. We must have hit him with like 500 sword hits each. He fell to his knees at one ponint and we thought we had him (i tried shooting at the heart i thought was a weak spot or something but it didnt seem to matter) but he just got back up and ketp going.
We had 2 other sloop crews attack us during the fight and managed to fight them both off. It was great fun.

At about the 35 min mark of the fight we were still going. I have no idea if we were actually doing damage to the boss or he was invulnerable or something. We tried lureing him to our ship and bombarding him with cannon balls. We must have sunk 50 shots into him at least. This was a struggle as he kept almost burning our ship down.
After another 10-15 mins of this we finally got bored and quit the game.

Were we doing something wrong? is there some strategey to this boss i dont understand? Or does he just have a billion HP?

Could these booses please have a health bar or something added to them so you actually know if you are doing something or just wasing your time?
I had fun times fighting this boss but eventually quit that game session very frustrated and dissapointed.

The music changes as you get close to the end. There are 3 phases he kneel to ground calling for help defenseless at the end of the frist and second phase. ech phase gets progressively harder as the boss will attack more frequently with stronger attacks. In the lasr phase he will start to use the world end attack which he acts like a mini volcano for a brif period.

So just keep hitting him till he goes down. Yes he has a Metric Tonne of health.

  • 70ish direct hit cannonballs will polish him off in his final phase.
It’s pretty easy really, we were killing him in 5 minutes.

  • @enf0rcer my friends beat him in about an hour it's possible their names are antiemetic Johnny8181

  • You can take him out with cannons if you have at least one crew member on shore distracting him. Even with cannonballs it takes somewhere in the region of 150 hits to beat him. He is very much the tankiest of tanks, and it's obvious that rare doesn't really want you using cannons to beat him.

  • A health bar could be cool.

  • I fought him for an hour on my own as well and only got him to his knees once before i had to log off for other reasons, I just felt he was super tanky and best to hit him next time with another person helping. all I did was keep him close to ammo boxes and just shoot him from far away, and sword attack or swim between sections when he would summon skeletons. still an hour of work for nothing unless you learn the patterns and beat him on your own or come to places like this to learn the pattern.

I dont know if it was captain grim, it was a tornado place with a guy who would shoot fireballs and make meteors rain down from the sky as he got upset with me.

  • They have a ton of hp.

Use cannons. It takes about 100 cannonballs I think.

Imho they are slightly too tanky. On a sloop with one cannon constantly scoring hits it still seems to take forever. A galleon can dreadnought them fairly quickly with the dps of 4 cannons though.

The reward isnt worth your time unless you're on a galleon I think.

  • @sponge1333

You did the right thing. Logging off is much more enjoyable that fighting those Ashen Lords.

  • They are soloable, but only if you are very Very patient. Find a reload box on the island, and train him back and forth, shooting him over and over with the eye of reach, and spamming sword on him when he goes to his knees. The skellies he spawns are very wimpy, going down with 2 sword swings each.
