XBOX loading times need to be shortened

  • I have just had my ship sunk by a skeleton ship because it got a lucky hit on me with a cannonball. I quickly sent my soul to the ferry because I was solo. The loading time was so long that by the time I spawned on the ferry the door had opened to let me back to the main world making me waist even more time running to the door. Something that could have been avoided if I as an XBOX player had a shorter load in time.

Once I went through the door I was treated to another load in time. I quickly got the sound of what was happening and could hear my ship filling with water but I couldn't do anything because I still hadn't loaded in. Then I heard the gong noise signifying that my ship had sunk and still I hadn't loaded in. In fact I didn't load in until my ship had practically sunk all the way below the surface with only about 10-15 seconds before it despawned.

    This is UNACCEPTABLE!!!!!

If this doesn't get addressed soon I will have to stop playing which I don't want to do because I think this is one of the best multiplayer games ever made but the damn loading times are ruining it for me.

  • @tom184rex I'm on an OG X1 and also had awful load times. What you want to do is invest in an SSD. I got one a couple of months back and the improvement was night and day, it cut my load times in half!

Games are getting more and more complex, and as they do they will make increasing demands on systems we play on. Unfortunately all we can really do is try our best to keep up!

  • @tom184rex

Like he said you need to get a very fast USB3 external drive and move the game onto it. A big SSD with a USB3 caddy would be ideal.

  • SDD is the answer, forget the hdd.

  • I've been saying its since the beginning, remove the Ferry out of the equation by asking players if they wish to go there upon death. We now have offer soul, just need another option to send to ferry. Eliminate the number of loading screens by not taking us to a place that will force us through more loading screens.

Other games do not have this issue when it comes to spawning. Why is Sea of Thieves struggling with this so much? While I can appreciate suggestions on getting an SSD, having to buy extra hardware shouldn't be the solution.

  • Get the Xbox Series X upon release. It would be a wise investment that comes with its own SSD.

  • also if your gonna by an ssd, look for one that uses USB-C on the ssd side and changes to USB-A. This way if you get the xbox series x you could use a USB-C to USB-C cable to keep it really fast as extra storage there.

  • I get that everyone is trying to help me with the loading time problem but the fact that most suggestions are to go out and buy a USB cable and an external SSD just makes me even angrier.

I should NOT have to buy separate pieces of hardware to run this game.

All the other games that I have played have acceptable loading times on my bought on release Xbox One. Sea of Thieves is the only game where I have a problem with the loading times and it needs to be addressed.

Oh and Galactic Geek You do realise how close we are to the release of the next gen consoles right. Buying a series X now would be a stupid waste of money considering how close we are to the next gen console releases

  • @tom184rex the "Series X" is the next console. And the sad recommendations are because the xbox one and xbox one s use a very slow 5400rpm drive.

  • @captain-coel I think he means Project Scarlet.

  • @supersnipper60 project scarlet was the code name for the Xbox Series X. A system what will have a built in SSD.

  • @captain-coel Oh....my bad. Oops.
@Tom184rex I'd get an Xbox One X then. I recently upgraded, and the load times are amazing compared to an Xbox One.

  • @tom184rex said in XBOX loading times need to be shortened:

Xbox Series X is the official name of the next Xbox system (previously referred to as Project Scarlet). Seems like you got it confused with the Xboxone X, which is understandable considering the two names are stupidly similar (seriously Microsoft; use a different naming scheme).

To address your original complaint, although Sea of Thieves is available on Xbox, Rare seems to be treating it like a PC game (they assume that their players will need to pay to upgrade their machine as time goes on). They have a history of doing this, all the way back to PerfectDark and DKC64 requiring the expansion pack on the old Nintendo 64

  • Trust me - as an Xbox Community Ambassador, Xbox Insider, and United Enforcer I know my stuff when it comes to the console.

  • @limbicfanatic this game still runs fine on older xboxs, the issue is the subpar hdd in this generation of consoles. Rare isnt telling people to get a new hdd or ssd or even to upgrade their hardware. alot of new games just do not run as well on this generation because of the hdd.

even an external 7200 rpm drive will run better.

but this is being addressed in the next generation in the use of ssds
