Double Gunning

  • I love this game. I love crossplay, but this last patch has strengthened not only double gunning, but the power behind each shot. It needs to end. It needs to be addressed. Xbox can’t battle against PC in situations like that. It’s truly impossible. Rare have addressed this in the past saying they’ve fixed it, but the truth is no they haven’t. You want to truly fix it and make the playing fields a little more maintainable pvp wise...make the cutlass a mandatory weapon. Bam, easy fix. 1 cutlass, 1 choice of gun. It’s ridiculous that it even has to be forced, but it’s not getting resolved. I’m not for private servers or turning off crossplay, but I can see why it’s the number one ask. Make this change and see if the tides turn (pun intended).

    PS to the players saying “you’re limited my choice in weapons by forcing the cutlass, I personally use double gunning”. No I’m not. This is a pirate game and a cutlass is the most effective way to combat in this game against the threats presented from the game. There’s no need for people to use double guns and PC use exploits for it.

  • Stop saying stupid things like this, double gunning at the very moment isnt even working properly and its total RNG.
    You're just bad at PVPing and you blame it on double gun/PC while 1/200 pirates are even double gunning atm.

    Plus considering the servers are in terrible agony since the last update, you have 1/2 chance of actually hitting your target with a hitmarker so its not worth trying double gunning anyways.

    Its definitly not a priority for RARE at the moment, their priority is to fix the server lag which makes the game unplayable

  • i wiped out a whole brig crew solo using my sword and blunderbuss on xbox.

    2 of them were pc players.

    I feel as though we arent disadvantaged against pc.

    What we must do as xbox players is increase the sensitivity in the controller, get used to do and comfortable with it, then increase it more etc.

    Youll find you turn quicker, and are accurate in doing so but also are more comfortable too (thats my opinion at least).

    I know straight up id suck with a mouse and keyboard, id actually id better with my controller.

    I get people feel the pc lot have more advantages than us, it simply is not true.

    I did notice a little more lag than usual since the update.
    Just to clarify, this is definitely the game? Thats reassuring because i pay way too much for my internet to be lagging haha

  • I support primary weapon as sword and secondary weapon as one of the three ranged weapons. The instant double gunning switch with blunder and sniper is ridiculous.

  • Double anything is dumb. For instance, if you get shot and then milliseconds later get hit with a sword, because it's so easy to macro, well that needs fixed too. That happened to me last night. A guy blundered me and before I had a chance to react, I was dead from his sword.

    I can't understand why Rare can't FORCE FULL ANIMATION on pulling out a weapon, shooting, switching to a new weapon. Force full reloading animations too. Maybe even go as far as making going from gun to gun milliseconds slower than going to gun from sword, or vice versa. Even if a player used a macro, they would still have to wait for the animations of pulling the weapon, getting the weapon in hand, and using the weapon. I am no Programmer, but it seems like that shouldn't be hard at for a gaming studio of many.

  • The same issues you have with double gunning can be said for the Cutlass/Shovel/Carry exploits as they all use animation cancelling to give an advantage.
    Add in those scalawags that combine the aforementioned advantages with macros and.... well it's a recipe for combat disaster.
    Taking away only one of these advantages while retaining the others will not solve the issues at hand with combat imo.
