Unsinkable spots

  • Rather than the lazy current approach of fixing individual spots pushing players to simply move on and find the next one, why dont the devs just put barriers in all bays that arent meant to have ships in them? Or actually fix it so ships despawn like they're meant to when they cant take on water

Yes i have reported players I've found to be exploiting

  • @hiradc you just demanded coherent approach to problem solving in SoT are you bananas?

Joke aside, instant despaw when in "unsinkable" spot when ship is in HG doesn't sound bad.

  • @hiradc They already patched the unsinkable mechanic, if the boat fills up it sinks, every time. "Unsinkable spots" are a joke nowadays and all have glaring weaknesses (holes), you can just sink them. They can't even shoot back..

  • @captain-knyt

They say they have patched the unsinkable spots, but they haven't. Just like they said the long black screens were fixed. Holes everywhere doesn't sink them. Been there, done that, reported it.

  • @europa4033 You need to hit holes where they touch the water, then it fills, once it fills it sinks. You cannot be unsinkable anymore, it's fully gone, the only hard part is figuring out how to hit the right holes

  • @captain-knyt They "patched" it by making it so that the ships despawn after 15 minutes, however some people have found spots where this doesn't apply. Regardless of what the devs have said about the fixed spots, I still see people in unsinkable spots, for longer than 15 minutes.

  • @potatosord No, they made it so when the boat fills up it sinks. The spots don't despawn. The reason they were unsinkable in the first place was an oversight where the point that you could despawn and the point that you sunk from filled water was not the same.

In the patch notes they said, sufficient damage will now sink boats in shallow water, and i can tell from plenty of experience that they are very sinkable. You CANNOT be unsinkable, only hard to sink in spots where it is hard to hit you. If the water reaches 100% you are sunk (which used to not be the case, hence the popular name unsinkable spot)

  • @captain-knyt Ok so I guess when I saw that boat stuck in the wood on dagger tooth for 45 minutes I guess it just didn't happen. There are still spots where people can put their boat where it cannot sink, regardless of any fix they might have tried to do. Those spots still exist and are still exploited.

  • @potatosord

Like Knyt said, those ships can sink in that spot without moving them at all. The fix Rare implemented made it so that no matter what, if water reaches 100%, they sink. What made the spots unsinkable before was the ship could be 100% full of water and not sink.

For the current Daggertooth spot you have to position your boat so that you're putting holes in the side facing the island, not away from it. Give them a full spread and wipe them once and they'll go down.

  • @worst-tdmer I had every hole as a tier 3 on them and they laughed at me. There was no water going into the boat at all, they were not repairing. They let me go on their boat and just played instruments at me. There is more than one dagger tooth spot, and there is spots at other outposts and islands too, where they gain no water and do not despawn. I do not care what they said they fixed, I saw with my own actual eyes that the spot is unsinkable. I tried to wait out the timer, I tried hitting them from every side. It just did not matter. I know how its supposed to work, but that doesn't mean it does work that way. Multiple people in this thread have said that this tactic still works.

  • @captain-knyt Maybe we are talking about different things. The dagger tooth spot I had no luck beating was not in the water at all. They did not take water, despite having EVERY hole as a tier 3.

  • @potatosord To be honest people always find new spots so maybe we are talking about different spots. I'm thinking of the one in the shipwreck on the southfacing side

  • @potatosord

If you're talking about this spot, it's very sinkable.

You put holes in the side facing the island and they take water.

  • @worst-tdmer Almost the same spot but this one has them out of the water, they do not take water.

  • @captain-knyt If you're talking about the spot Worst TDMer is talking about, then we are talking about different spots. It's close, but holds the boat more out of the water.
