Steam / M+K / Aiming while strafing/jumping inconsistent

  • Hey guys,

I have a beefy computer and I only play SoT on it. I use ExitLag for network assistance due to the game being pretty laggy and bad higher than 60ping.

I also use process lasso to set priority for SoT and EAC so they should be the #1 focus of my computer.

I use 250hz polling rate on my mouse like everyone else, I have a few background applications on the taskbar like Logitech ghub, process lasso, exitlag, and probably 8 more that are just there from my computer.

I need a computer wizard to help me figure this issue out: When I’m strafing left or right, especially if I jump, it’s as if my crosshair isn’t moving smoothly. Like It seems like my input isn’t being registered for a brief moment while moving and it bothers me badly. On top of that sometimes my gun just wont aim or shoot…

I feel like I’m fighting my equipment to fight in this game.

I literally only use my computer to game so I’m willing to nuke all the useless stuff on my PC in order to simplify everything and make my experience better.

    Few suspicions to maybe why?:
1.) Could it be where I have my wireless mouse plugged in at on the back of my PC?
2.) Could it be taskbar/background processes messing with my input?
3.) My PC settings or lack thereof.

Can anyone either offer a comprehensive list of things I absolutely DO NOT NEED FOR GAMING on my Pc or offer some screenshots of their settings/setup so I can copy what you got?

I’m willing to fully reset my PC and default everything just to figure this issue out. Please help a pirate out!

  • @boneyardx0 If you have a wired mouse, use that to see if it makes any difference because that's probably the easiest change.

Next would be to strip down and remove all of your mouse software suite, optimization and process priority apps, because it's likely that one or more of those is creating the problem by fighting for priority. If it works fine with all of that removed, you know that one of them is the problem. Add the mouse suite back first, then add more until you're satisfied or the problem reappears.

To be honest, I wouldn't bother with ExitLag. It's just adding a different middle man to your connection and you'd only need it if you have really bad routing from your location to the nearest Azure data center.

  • I’ll try just running it barebones and see if anything changes, I doubt it because this is a problem I’ve had thru 2 RMA’s, and a rebuild.

I see other people’s gameplay on tiktok and their game runs so smoothly & they have no issue moving and aiming at the same time.

I fr feel like my computer should be just demolishing this game perfectly smoothly when it comes to input.

I noticed also that when I type messages to people in game my keyboard wants to repeat characters sometimes before I fully let go after a keystroke, I wonder if it’s setup to send more presses per moment of being pressed? If that made sense lol
