Ideas for more Wild Life in the Sea

  • Avast Maties!
Ahoy lads & lasses, you know what's great?
Having the Megalodon circle your boat sometimes!
(When it doesn't bite the boat of course)

It's adds that sense of wild life to the seas!
Something I believe this game needs more of!

So what Rare should add is:
More life to the sea, in the form of:
Whales, Dolphins, Sea turtles, Fish School and Jelly Fish.
    Let's get started:

    Whales:
    last whale on list
    Second last
    Blue whale
    narwall

Whales would be off the coast of many islands and you would often see them through out the seas while on your boat.
They would pose no immediate threat to you or your ship.

    Dolphins:
    245
    Ythyhj

Dolphins would swim around your ship every once in a while and show off by doing tricks and cackling.
(Dolphins in real life actually do like to show off)
They'd essentially just be eye candy.

    Sea Turtles:
    aye sea turtles!
    turtle

Aye, sea turtles would often swim by your boat, essentially they'd just be there to look at. (But, maybe a Bilge Rat Adventure could revolve around finding sea turtles with Treasure Chests tied to their backs. Just an idea)

    Fish Schools:
    Ebola
    ¥¥¥¥

Fish Schools could be an interesting addition to the seas, since schools of fish attract Predators in real life, so I don't see why they can't here!
Meaning sharks would be more plentiful in places near fish schools.

    And Finally Jelly Fish:
    Jelly
    Lkjsjd

Jelly fish would pass by your boat every once in a while.
But if you get caught in there stingers (Or what ever there called) you'll be stunned and you will take a little damage aswell.

Well, those are my ideas, how did ya like em?
And what ideas do you have to spruce up the sea?

Until then I'll see ya on the sea!

  • I think making more wild life in seas would add more to the **Journey ** part of sea of thieves.

  • @sgt-palooggoo I would love to see a Humpback whale especially. However I don't want to see whale hunting or the ability to hunt/kill these animals. I know we can do it with sharks but they add an extra element whales and dolphins don't typically attack people and to be honest neither to sharks. Also I'd like Rare to incorporate some kind of message to make more people aware of the dangers these animals currently face although I can why people may object to that. Regardless adding more life to the sea will increase its richness and make it feel well more alive.

  • @AlPhAcEnTuRiOn2 yeah, I don't think hunting these animals is good for the game's experience either.
They'd be just there to look at.

  • I like the idea but I would rather see a bit more background critters on land first.

Crabs shuffling around on the beach, maybe small monkeys in the trees. Everythings beautiful until you linger on an island for too long and realize....you're aaaalll aaaaalooooone....then I start talking to myself wondering where everything went (it was most likely the birds, WHY ARE THEY STILL HERE!?) and try to panic swim to a neighboring island.

Ok to be fair I was going to try and swim it regardless but you get the idea...

  • How about man eating Veinous fly traps?

Where they'd be on islands and if you weren't careful going through areas, you'd get trapped until you cut yourself free

  • @nathan-wrath that could work, I think someone has suggested it before actually.

  • I also hope to see more creatures of the... sea. ;)

I hadn't thought of jelly fish, but I like that idea - make them the rare snake of the seas (in SoT terms, I mean. Make their sting poison you a tiny bit).

I think whales should sometimes sing... and I've wondered if they could provide some sort of benefit as well, but I'm not sure what. A tune you could play along with? Maybe when you play an instrument along with them, in the right place, something magical happens? (very vague, but just spitballing)

  • Ohhh man I would lose it if they added whales, or even more shark species. How cute would a hammer head or even a whale shark be?

  • @pdt-mindstream

I would like to see jelly fish like this in and around shipwrecks to add an extra challenge to them. Lets face it once you've done one you know the layout of the ship and it becomes an 'in and out' job every time.

  • Id like to see crocs or alligators...

  • @sgt-palooggoo

I agree wholeheartedly, it'd give us something to observe on those longish voyages and help give the illusion of a living ecosystem within the seas.

I'd really love to see all of these plus plankton glowing at night sometimes, flying fish perhaps. I reckon seeing the odd two or three dolphins at the bow of the ship would be really exhilerating too.

  • @katttruewalker
Thank ye ma'am, that was the idea behind this thread:
To make voyages more visually interesting & exhilarating!
