How to Stop PVE Players Griefing Us???

  • Sometimes when I see a ship, I often imagine the loot it might have on it and so, myself and my crew mates prepare the ship for battle. We sail towards them but the mere second we are spotted, they grief by turning the other way.

We try to chase them, but to no avail. In the end, we give up because these players made us spend almost an hour chasing them.

So perhaps we can stop these players from griefing us. I have some suggestions.

Death Zones: Just like that one movie Mad Max, a big massive dome appears above our heads and traps the other player(s) and me within to dish it out until one man leaves - with the loot.

Barnacles: The more you sail away from a fight, the more barnacles your ship gets. This slows you down and to remove them, you must throw a chest overboard. And just maybe the ship chasing you will receive it.

The Black Spot: Because these players have ran from one pirate, the pirate running away receives the Black Spot. And so, is marked for death to be hunted down by all players.

    Thoughts?

  • @sonofbruuf This is the post this forum deserves

  • Basically the game makes people that want to pvp not really be able to or have any reason to and people that want to pve can not because of a ship following them for an hour. Great game design

  • Out of curiousity, if all PvErs returned the game thus denying you your divine right to engage them PvP, would you consider that to be trolling you as well?

  • @timidobserver Possibly.

  • @timidobserver I guess I already trolled him then lol

  • Sea Of Salty Tears! I agree with pve players griefing us pvp players. Thats why i sink everyship i see. Solo of 4man. Git rekt randys

  • Honestly not good ideas. The game is (and should be) PvE focus with Opportunites to PvP. Not all encounters with other ships are fighting. This will essentially make it the opposite, a PvP focused game where you are forced to fight everyone you see or that comes after you.

Some days I want to fight some ships, I go fight a couple ships in the middle of my voyages and see if I can get something from it, other days I just want to PvE without interruption. This means running away and avoiding everyone, because just removing PvP from this game is a bad idea as well.

How is a ship running from you greifing you anyway? This isn't a battle royal, deathmatch game. Gotta be more clever how you approach PvP if you want loot from it. If you want more PvP this isn't the game for you.

  • @p*****a-ebola I help the community put an end to griefers by frequent posting and hunting these said griefers.

It's mostly due to lack of things to do. Plenty people resort to just PvP because they're bored and don't care for doing voyages over and over. I personally enjoy what's in the game and don't mind grinding, but I can't deny that there needs to be more stuff.

  • PVE-ERS GRIEFING PVP-ERS???
What kind of twisted point of view is that? If people just killed eachother, there would be 0 loot. After 1 hour I have chests worth 3k gold in my ship, why would I fight you? You just spawned and wanna get in a fight, what for? I risk losing 3k and you risk nothing, go find your own treasure or keep chasing ships for hours, p**b.

  • This is not griefing...... They are not doing this to irritate you, they are doing it to make sure they don't lose their treasure.

  • That's not griefing, it's playing the game as intended. Seems to me you need to learn how to hunt, and sail, better.

  • I propose a Bounty System for those who dodge PvP. Everytime another ship come within a certain radius and you sail away from them you should gain a bounty making it harder to sell your goods at full price because the NPCs see you as a coward. Once you sink a ship the Bounty is removed.

  • I don´t unserstand all this discussion.....
We all playing a Pirat game! So get all what u can and dont give it back.

In my eyes, it is much easier to defend from a following Ship as to get it succesfull taken over and stealing Chests.

I play the game the game frequently solo. And have no problems with getting robbed....

I'll fight you with 20 chests on my ship. Why? Because I have faith in my abilities as a sailor and pirate. You run because you have 1 or 2 chests? Who's the [mod edited] again?

If you fight me for 2 chests in my ship while you have 20 on yours (which doesn't happen at all), you are greedy. If you are willing to lose time chasing me for 0-4 chests as you say, so be it. I'm not griefing you, you just don't know what "value" is and obviously don't know how to play the game.

  • PVE players who sail away from a fight for plunder is literally breaking my immersion. We simply need to manage this.

    #PiratesLife

  • @sonofbruuf that isn't griefing, thats running from a fight. There is no rule that states that a ship has to fight every ship they see.

and make this game only about PvP when it's a role-playing pirate game? No thanks. I don't want to have to turn away from every boat I see way off in the distance just to play my pirate game where I actually dig up treasure and read maps instead of just world of tanks but on the sea.
I'd rather have a location where you can queue up for 1 v 1 ship battles. Wager some gold and fight other boats.

People with loot on board are naturally not going to want to fight because they have stuff to lose and the other party probably doesn't have anything to lose. I will fight if I have a couple smaller chests just to get people off my back, but forcing people to fight all the time will kill this game fast.

  • YARRRR.....
I love a post that makes me laugh...
    Yee Bee Daa Best!!!
Black Spots for all of ye!!!!
--Ahh... a barrel of black dots, where I can sneak over to a treasure hunting group who do not have treasure on board yet. Then I can drop the black dot on there voyage table, then await on my ship... Ohhh... the panic and fear that would ensue!!! GLORIUS

But there is no rule enforcing you should keep your chests for yourself for the long run, is there....?

So I guess we reached a statelmate. Either way, one side of the coin is abusing this fact - hence the griefing. PVE makes this game unbalanced!!!

You don't think people will flee in real life if they have valuable goods. It's part of the immersion, not breaking it.

  • YES! I am tired of getting griefed by these pve players please make these things #1 priority rare or else I will be FORCED to stop playing you game along with many other Pvp players and then your game will just be left with all these pve GRIEFERS!

  • @szadkiel My father told me to fight for what's mine. Otherwise, I wouldn't be a man.

Sounds like you need to get gid at chasing Pve players scrub ;)

This isn't the game for you then. Considering it is and should be a PvE focused game with some PvP. Sorry.

  • @szadkiel Sadly, beggars can't be choosers. Just like when people beg for mercy before I sink them.

But how is that fair to us PvPers who just want to play the game our own way? Sometimes ill sail around for more than an hour before I ran someone to fight, just to have them run away and make me chase them for 30-40 mins. Now i've wasted almost 2 hours because this PvE griefer won't let me fight them... how is that fair?

  • @sonofbruuf

    I've got another......

When a PvE player accepts a quest, they should be instantly flagged on everyone's map so PvP players can hunt them more efficiently.

...... I caught the gist of this, right?
