Day 1 Campers???

  • Ok. So testing done, game installed. So much fun (sarcasm) 4 x chests aboard, cashed in the big one... campers at the tent. Killed me and stole 2 x chests. (2against 1). No safe zone as I was about 5 x feet from dropping off another chest. I get it is a pirate game. I get it is about stealing and sea battles but if we fight it out on tge seas only to come back to a "Sea of Campers"... it will not be played long...

  • @graembilly Bare in mind it doesn´t always has to be camping. Yestarday i had 2 marauder chests and a skull on my slopp and saw a galleon not to far away so i raced to the outpost. Crashed my ship into the shore and sold all my stuff i had. As soon as i turned back from the tent i saw the galleon approaching and unloadind 2 chests. I shoot one of them and sold his chest before they killed me.

None of this was camping or griefing

  • Note: not making judgements

Couldn't you see the anchored ship? I don't doubt a sloop could hide in a cove somewhere but any time I saw a ship at anchor at an outpost I either steered clear (playing solo) or outright opened fire on it. Gonna be sneaky sneaks? Enjoy your swim!

  • Could you be sure they weren't just about to set sail as well? Could have been picking up their quests to start out and you were just unlucky enough to stumble upon them?

  • I wasnt there...but it sounds like you forgot this rule:

If you see a ship at an outpost or a mermaid - pick another outpost to unload your stuff.

  • @graembilly I have no sympathy this happened to you because you weren’t prepared. Scout islands out before mindlessly trying to drop off chests. Look for ships and mermaids

  • @dustlessboot lol I get it. Pays to be careful but 5 x feet away from the tent? Ha ha.

  • always bring your cheapest item first. also hide you chest skull ect on the mast harder to get too .

  • @graembilly Funfact: You got a telescope to spot enemys.

  • @sshteeve lol maybe but jumping out of the rocks and shooting me in the back made me a little suspiscious... 😁

  • @toastywrath not the mermaids I am worried about! All good will plan better next time..

  • @SoleMagician506 @Kustho @toastywrath @Polemisch When you do delivery voyages you have to drop off your cargo at a specific outpost by a certain time. You don't get to just sail on to the next one if you see other ships. This is the problem I had today and I got ganked. Lost one of my deliveries but I had no choice and I was on a time crunch.

  • I don't agree with safe zones, though upon reflection it would be proposterous to assume that the guild representatives have no issue with those who kill their suppliers and use lethal weaponry in such close proximity to their place of business.

Realisticly (not simulative realism, but world-bound realism) the guild reps would persecute anyone so brazenly damaging their business and putting them at risk. It's questionable that they would pay these individuals for such behaivour and also that they would allow it.

I'd suggest that firing any kind of weapons (cutlass included) near guild reps would cause them to close shop and become militant towards the offenders. If they are killed their shop remains closed until no offending players are in the area and then re-open with a new IPGenerated! rep. Not a safe zone as such, since you're not safe, but a zone of consequence.

If I run a business based on buying recyled plastic, and some bully is sat next to me taking the plastic from anyone who approaches and then asking me for the pay, I'm not going to encourage that by paying him. He's giving people a solid reason not to work for me or assist my business.

  • @dustlessboot Moments like that are the reason I play the game.

  • Watch for ships or mermaids. End of Story. Though I could understand if it was a Merchant quest, cause you NEED to go to that outpost.

  • Had an experience of this last night.
Started out on a sloop, git my quests, stocked the ship, sorted my gear.

Random on the island with me playing music constantly. Knew he wasn't my crew as he wasn't in my list and I chose solo. Could also see a mermaid out to shore.
Thought screw it see what he does and let him come with me to find the early treasure - even helped with skellies and the digging.

Knew what was going to happen but went with it. Got to the island and he shot me in the back of the head! Fair enough, came off the ferry and had a go with my cutlass!

I played along with this one, had I wanted to I could have left him on the island or sunk my own leaving us both stranded.

It's annoying I'll give you that, but in a land where everyone is a pirate we have to be vigilant.

  • Here is what you do. Let one sail loose, just a little bit. Then chill on the outpost. Mermaid might give you away but it might also be hidden. Just lay in wait at a popular outpost and then bam! Easy loot. Very little work. Seen it done, works like a charm for an ambush. Just tell the Mermaid to stay quiet.

Now that is a good way of looking at it. Or atleast a stolen chest getting sold at a discounted price. Stolen goods .25 on the dollar 👍
