Make skull of siren song a table quest and take it off the mast

  • So my friend and I were doing molten sands, when we got attacked by these suspiciously good guys (I have my reasons they were jacked up, but I need video evidence) who were very toxic. They spawn camped me, and I jumped on deck and prepared to shoot him, and when I pressed Y, ....I hit the skull of siren song button.... aaand... I'm dead. This isn't the first time this happened. I know what you guys are gonna say, that you can get rid of it, but my wifi was being annoying that day and I couldn't use my mic. So I couldn't get rid of it since my friend was boarding. In the end, they sank us, and some more toxic players sank them. Then the second toxic guys sank us again. Please make SoSS a quest voyage, because it being on the mast is really, really, annoying. Also you can't vote on it, just one player clicks it and bang. Super annoying for open crew, because we will be doing something, and a dude starts the quest and everybody suddenly wants to do it. Then I'm like "But guys, what about the Fort of Fortune??? We are on the final wave!" Buut... we still do SoSS :(

  • Many things could be done to improve skull of siren song. But will they be done? And if so, will it happen before or after outfit presets?

My solution is it should be a world event, encouraging more people to accept and thus the note disappear.

Another benefit is fixing the voyage in general. The entire event relies on PVP to be interesting, and as long as people can choose between a fort of fortune and the SoSS, not enough people will be present for the gripping PvP action we had the week after the content released.

  • Why do players fight close to the mast? That a dead zone.

  • if were being real. the voyages were only valid for the month they released anyone. only people doing them now are commendation hunters. they are on the mast because its a serverwide pvp quest to be fought over. but no ones fighting over them. i say conver them to map table voyages. maybe if they really want people to pvp over then just add special markers to the quest table so we can tell someones working on a smuggler or skull voyage. then we can opt into if we want. though i doubt many care about hunting these people down any more. supposedly the supply route on the map is only active if the voyage is active. i noticed the route vanished from my map when i did a reaper voyage. so those annoying rapidly respawning smuggler route ships might not respawn if everyone just did reapers quests? good tip for pve servers to test out i guess

sadly nothing will be done with them though. the people accidentally activating them is probably rare. the effort to remove something no one touches anyway? it hurts nothing being there. i mean actually i imagine it does having skeleton ships spawning that frequently and always being up has to have some performance impact.

a lot of problems i hear people bring up being related to open crew. and why would anyone open crew? lack of friends? i too have no friends. but id rather solo than open crew. i get the mindset though. i realized early on when i was new at strategy games i would join a 4v4 figuring i might stink but the other 3 will carry me. as time went on i realized thats why most people did 3v3 and 4v4. lack of skill or confidence or both. they were looking to be carried. the good players were all doing 1v1. ive only been mid at best but i just avoid competitive games as a whole if they dont have a vs ai option. sadly not an option here so i had to find discords to play on. but just left those recently as my days in sot are winding to a close thanks to poor developement choices.

  • @BurnBacon

Because I spawned in there. I don't hang around the mast. He was standing there ready to shoot me point blank so the only thing I could do would be to shoot him.
@RoboRob-R66Y I open crew when I either want some help on a quest, or when I need SotF Rep when none of my friends are playing.

  • Happened again. Some toxic grade 5 reapers with nothing better to do rolled up WHILE I WAS AT PORT AND! WHILE I HAD NOTHING ON MY SHIP (like 2 of the top 5 dirtiest times to attack a player) Tried to shoot him, skull of siren song voyage pop-up aaaaannnd.... ded

Your in the way, you have fresh resources, dont know you have nothing...your at Port which often means, your Selling.

BUT! Players forget, there are...commendations and achievements that require sinking player ships...OR damaging them.

Tried to shoot him, skull of siren song voyage

again...idk how you dont simply Vote it down before doing anything else. Or dont fight on that side of the Mast, majority of fights happen below deck or by the wheel.

  • @burnbacon we had already diced to do the quest. And we didn’t even have resources. I used em all up during my nuke fight with the galleon

  • I know this is entirely different from your reasoning, but I would also really like it off the mast… This is an extremely shallow reason in comparison though, as I want it off simply because I find it distracting and it starts to feel like an unwanted cosmetic I can’t remove from my ship. I wasn’t present in the season it was added but from what I’ve seen it’s not really relevant anymore either? I’ve been using it to grind commendations but that’s it.
