Lets talk about positive trash talk and tease

  • Just a fun little idea, i want to see what our community call positive trash talk.

I personally dont see the reason to swear or even get angry at anyone in a game, more then that its game about piracy so you should expect to get ambushed or even backstabbed. And im cool with that.

But im talking about something else, the goofy dumb things you like to do to tease the other groups or even your own crew mates.
I make my crew doubt every move they make, every corner might hide a keg sitting there and waiting for them to pass by, OH my favorite! At the end of the Lost Shipment voyage after someone opened the Captain's quarters and pretend that im just tossing loot to float up but what im really doing is positioning them up so i can cook the keg in the room and let it float, cook it just to the right time and it would float up to the poor victim, they wont have time to escape the blast but only long enough to understand that they fell for it.

Trash talk for me can be funny for both sides, it can brings a smile to someone as long as its being done respectfully.

    My style is:
When i board a ship I shout "House keeping!"
Getting ready with a blunderbass as a boarder attempts to climb up the ladder and "YEET" them to the Ferryman.
Sneak behind somsone and scare the life out of him with a scream ^^"
New thing that gets me everytime is after I kill someone to prepare a nice juicy loud spit into their headset.

How do you like to tease other players?

While I don't PvP, I DO like to play around with crews who happen upon me. I usually just go for something funny and/or bizarre that will either make them laugh or just stop and ponder for a moment.

I pretended to be a ghost once while hiding out on an island. I chased down a brig that sunk me, only to try and board them and turn their lanterns pink. I followed another sloop that attacked me for nearly half an hour, constantly hanging just out of range. They finally managed to get onboard where they briefly spotted me in the crow's nest before I blew myself up with a gunpowder keg.

Just yesterday I was finishing up unloading my loot at Plunder when a galleon started heading my way. All the super valuable stuff was already turned in, so I barrel hid by the shipwright and waited to see what they'd do.

They started turning in chests and eventually one came over to check my sloop and finally firebombed it, waiting on the dock to, presumably, see if I'd show up.

From my hiding place I asked, "Do I smell something burning?" This set off a short back and forth that left us both chuckling.

Swearing and actual anger aren't bad inherently, but they're things I think are best reserved for people you know. There are jokes and comments that I would make around friends that I would never make around strangers or mere acquaintances. Because I know my friends and what they find funny and/or acceptable.

  • @faceyourdemon I use the Mocking Wave emote whenever people miss their board.... I also have a monkey named Dickens Lickens, he's my battle monkey.

I also use my soundboard to play Ancient Skeleton sounds to troll my crewmates, as well as using the Kraken and Megalodon and Skellyship sounds when we've got a lot of treasure. I also use the Red Sea music when players go afk.

Whenever I see my crewmates load my dog into the cannon, I quickly hit dismiss pet before thy fire and they always get confused.

    I love being a jerk.

  • I played a lot of sports growing up and I was around when people could just give each other a hard time without it becoming a bigger thing online or off.

I see value in competitive banter that doesn't cross lines.
People can let off some steam, compete, everyone goes home and chills out. At least that's how I think it should be.

For me I just don't punch down. I'm not here to pick on people or get personal against people. I avoid communicating with people that are legitimately upset/angry over their loss. I'm not a preacher, teacher, or moderator it's not my business if someone is freaking out I just let them be and move on. I have no interest in throwing gasoline on that fire

The only (gameplay related) trash talk I engage in is with people that are around my skill or better and most of the time we both share a common respect for the banter but reject getting personal. We slam each other's performance and then it's over.

My pirate's personality has always been based on Rambo's mentality I don't draw first blood. I'm not gonna trash talk you if you haven't trash talked me but once it has been established that you wish to participate while we exchange hostilities, challenge accepted.

I do a lot of characters when I'm just having fun with people that are attacking me

I do Macho Man as an SJW and call the other pirates Hulk Hogan while I go on about the intercontinental championship and how Hogan is problematic. That one is fun for me

I do Christopher Lambert as Raiden telling dad jokes and then do the laugh like he did in mortal kombat

I like doing Val Kilmer as Doc Holliday but only do willy wonka quotes mixed with his tombstone quotes like "I'm your Snozzberry"

  • @aca-hombre Oh i fully agree I can say some horrible things to my friends and it would be well received, as long as you are sure that the other person is ok with this.

Common sense thats all, youll approach strangers carefully with dark humor.

By the way didnt someone ran a petition or something to liberate your name from this cencorship?

  • @faceyourdemon Oh, I did! It flopped. Petition Part 2??? 😶

  • @faceyourdemon I like to do my Joker impression when I land on somebody's deck.

"Good evening ladies and gentleman, we are tonight's entertainment"

  • @klutchxking518 Ancient skeleton sound?! Man you are cruel! 🤣

Ive got VoiceMod and its funny to use it on little kid's ship, tuck on their ship and make scary noises.

Dont give up! Together we shall liberate the one we cant name to FREEDOM!

  • @jadescissors32 I can make a pretty good impression of Krieg from Borderlands.

I POWDERED MY COCKATIEL FOR THE RIBCAGE SLAUGHTER!

I HAVE THE SHINIETS MEAT BICYCLE!

  • Got to be careful tho. So many snowflakes out there who take any tease as toxic nature. Boarding a ship? Toxic. Saying gibberish, toxic. Because what you say could have an actual meaning to them in some twisted way......

No joke. Some people have this weird sense being called a codfish is a curse word.

Better: kid got upset when I said “I’ve come for your booty”. And thought I was a but-pirate and gonna (you know) him. -_-

  • @faceyourdemon i like to yell "Bye Bye Boat" when one of our boats sinks. it feels better when its theirs.

Occasionally I like to discuss with players on ferry that their boat has sunk because the ocean filled it with water. They usually swear at me when I do this

  • @burnbacon Then they lack of a vital social skill, self humor is essential for evolution.

A rapper once said: "If you can take a d*** you can take a joke".

  • My favorite is when I'm sailing with my boy @Skellingtor and he drops an ello poppit to our foes lol.

    a dive? 0_0

  • "Hippity Hoppity, your boats now my property."

  • @blackbeard-lufy Yes, you are correct.. 😉

  • ~Kills player~
    Rolls on Deck Laughing
    ~Player respawns~

    Repeat

That one simple pirate chat gets me more insults than you can imagine. Its great.
