Ship titles are a thing I have been waiting for a long time. I think it would be cool to be able to name your ship and have the name show up on the name plate of the ship, which stays blank on your ship with no customization options. That's why i think it would be a nice addition to the ship customization options. With ship names we could also make it so player ships with names (names being optional) don't just despawn instead they become an explorable wreck such as the ones we can explore today. In this case loot would not have to be spawned randomly, and would be in the same place it was when the ship was sailing. The ships would despawn after being looted or after a period of time such as 20-25 mins.
Player ship names and Player ship wrecks
@joshingsaucer68 For Ship names I'd say yes, but turning into a wreck would introduce some problems. It would make it a lot harder to find your loot when you get back to where you sank if, say, your ship sank due to a skellie ship, megaladon attack or other PVE event. would the wreck generate seagulls like the PVE wrecks? how deep would the ship sink, all the way to the bottom, or just below the surface?
@redwoodtheelf player wrecks would spawn whenever a ship is sunk with loot(10-1000 items). They would be much like normal wrecks, same depth range as them. and they would generate seagulls. I agree it might be a little less plausible but would allow players to get the loot that they lost back on to there ship. also maybe if a player found another player wreck they could "take" the quest from the table and it would be a competition to get the quest done first.
@joshingsaucer68 But their ship respawns somewhere else! I can just imagine a crew scuttling their cloned ship over and over again creating more and more shipwrecks and eventually crashing the server...
...and that, ladies and gentlemen, is why this isn't a thing.

⬇️@galactic-geek your right it could crash the server, but it what if they made it so there can only be one shipwreck clone at a time, so if they sink again the previous shipwreck would disappear

You could still have a large battle with 3+ ships all fighting and sinking and spawning wrecks in close proximity - that alone would probably be enough to turn the sever into a slog.

in my reply to redwoodtheelfOkay, so it requires loot? I sail to the nearest island, pick up the 1st piece of loot I see. Scuttle. Rinse. Repeat. Watch server crash as I laugh maniacally at how easy it is to troll an entire server worth of pirates.

Actually it looks like he said you had to have 10 or more items of loot on your ship. That's a lot of items for a solo sloop. I almost never have that much on my boat.

I can get that amount in about 3 or 4 islands, easy.

So would I, if I was silly enough to stack it all on my boat instead of turning in after I get more than about 3 items on the boat.
