Overwhelming The Solo Player With World Events

  • Recently had a session where the game itself basically came out and said "I don't like you. Go away." Sailing back to an outpost I had encountered a storm. Lightning kept hitting the boat so I dropped anchor to do repairs and bucketing. While this is going on, the Kraken shows up and starts attacking as well. Barely able to manage all this and then the boat rocks violently. Look out of the cabin and a Meg had joined in. It attacked and there went my boat, my loot, etc. I can appreciate the difficulty of game balancing for crews and soloists, but this should never happen. This is not a survivable situation and sucks the life right out of a session. Depending on the difficulty of the World Event, there should never be more than one at a time. Only thing missing was a Skelly ship and I was looking for it as I went down with my ship...

  • U did this to urself.
You seen the storm but sailed in.
You didnt look for the skull in the sky, or the ship cloud. If u dont see those then the kraken has a chance to spawn.

U just gotta pay more attention mate

  • @kang-seung-jeun kraken on its own is no risk or challenge, storm on its own is no risk or challenge, meg on its own is no risk or challenge.

I love it when they all come together to make it rough for me and actually give me a challenge, yes i might sink but i will never go down with a fight, you shouldnt have dropped anchor in the storm you sailed into yourself (the storm is visible as it moves accross the map so easy to evade). Dropping the anchor basicly clipped your wings and removed all your mobility making you a sitting duck.

Kraken only spawn if their is no raid active (ship cloud or skull cloud)

  • @Kang-Seung-Jeun
you can also get overwhelemed by the Sea if you are 3 or 4.
Just an hour ago all crew Members got soaked in by the Kraken immediately and were drown or thrown far away so we could not safe the ship from sinking - happens...
imho is good to be never the Master of all Situations and the Sea can be unforgifing unfair and takes back what you have accomplished. Make you appreciate your successfull journeys more.

we luckily had a rowboat :-)

  • If losing your ship "sucks the life right out of a session" for you, solo might not be the best way to go...

Solo or not though, sometimes you get in situations where RNG slaps you in the face no matter what, such is life on the seas.

    Good luck!
