New Player Fleets option

  • My fleet idea is very simple, essentially you double the amount of people on a server and the ship. You would have 4 people on 2 sloops, 6 people on 2 brigantines and 8 people on 2 gallons.

    When you first log in, there will be 2 identical ships. Any cosmetic changes to the ship would affect both ships. This would create a uniform for the fleet. Any voyages would also be visible on both ships

    All players would be on the same crew regardless of what ships they are on. They would not be able to harm each other and get a full cut of the treasure. If you die, you will respawn on the closest ship. If everyone hops on one ship and sails more than 5 grid spaces, the second ship would be scuttled.

    If you manually choose to scuttle a ship in your menu, it would count to scuttle both ships. To scuttle one ship only, I would place a vote to scuttle option on each ship. It would appear as the message on the ferry of the dammed informing you on the option to scuttle. If you want to recover your second ship, speak to any Shipwright at the outposts and click the option saying I lost my ship. Each Shipwright will say random statement if you ask them. Give us the option to say, I lost my ship. Each Shipwright would say something condescending like, “How could you loose your ship.” Once they finish talking, a mermaid would spawn using blue smoke instead of green. That mermaid would take you to your lost ship.

    With this method, you would have to double the amount of people on each server. To make it fair, they need to divide servers. Essentially, a fleet only server and the single ship server. This would definitely help people grind levels

    I can’t see what we would gain. We already have Alliances.

    We would gain double the amount of people on a server. With an alliance, you only get half of what another crew gets.

    Many people complain about having a bigger ship so they can have more players on it. My idea would solve that issue and let you play with more people

    The fleet would be identical ships. Essentially a 2 sloop fleet or a 2 brigantine fleet or a 2 gallon fleet.

    The amount of Ships and players is to balance PvP and PvE.
    It's all fine about it and need no, no mustn't be changed!
    These suggestions are completely immersionbresking to me.
    And another split of the playerbase?
    No thank you.
    And the most important:
    There is no need for "help the people grind levels."
    Levels are pointless in this game, they happen by the way.
    Stop gaming the system start playing games.
    It's also the moment you dont care for loosing loot, winning and loosing that much, because it's about the fun playing.

    I disagree but I respect your opinion. On that note, I would like to see 2 new ships with a 5 and 6 man crew.

  • @coffeelight5545 i think with some balancing like increased spawn timers or crew spawn waves (players can only spawn as groups of 4 on a gally, 3 brig, 2 sloop) could make this more balanced, or things like crews of 8 being allowed one weapon slot each, etc.

    As always, anything could fit this game if done right, and for once, i think they would have better luck balancing as i suggested above, with fleet crews getting server merged when sunk, than “splitting the playerbase” as empty as that argument really is. Low pop servers we could have matchmaking options as diverse as any game. Thats just a bad excuse, because they dont want to balance rewards for multiple modes that are basically too similar just with player opinions of fairness differing. But imo fleets would still be better in adventure not a new mode.

    Add fleets into regular adventure with balances as i said above, and probably more, next time they expand the map so we have even more room to support it.

    I would love to trade my utility for teamwork advantages, and would love to fight large crews who have done the same, when im in a sloop or what have you.

    Raisable ladders would be necessary also imo. You can always get back to your ship via mermaid (with added cost?) but then people wouldnt be as easily boarded by larger crews, their main advantage, besides survivabilty.

    And players need to use ladders to bring loot aboard so that is just a positive balance change all around imo, have yet to hear good reasons not to add this, and players could still unroll the ladder with a timer from the bottom, just not fast enough to do while swimming to intercept a ship at speed.

  • I doubt the servers could even handle this. It lags with 2 skelly ships and 3 player ships on the screen now. But heres to wishin i guess

  • @nwo-azcrack why? If you hit their anchor then you can just drop their ladder if you need to board to sink them? Or catch them loading chests, or shoot directly onto their deck, or blow them up with a keg, or maybe you could shoot a rope/pulley near the ladder and it would unfurl.

    I still dont see any issue besides people needing boarding as the main means of sinking people, which it shouldnt be imo, especially after the new damage update.

    These are the types of concessions we should suggest for solo players, so that things like the grenades we talked about or fleets can be added without the solo player excuse being used.

    And a boarding axe to go along with it would be perfect, but im kinda tired of the way they feel like waiting is better than just adding and balancing changes like this and adding content as it is made, even if they affect each other a little bit like these two things. Then we can actually see how both play out and give feedback rather than rare thinking they know that adding them together is best, when based on their track record they often dont.

  • The alliance option makes a scenario like this a little more chaotic and it should be that way. Having two ships on the same crew and having no friendly fire would be a huge advantage above even having more than one ship. There's no balance here and besides there's a server population limit that wouldn't allow it.

    Perhaps let a group crew up with another crew in an alliance (2 ship maximum) but this same crew across multiple ships is insanely OP.

    I was just mentioning a boarding axe cause i want one sooooo bad.
    I dont usually board players either. Im am an absolute beast on the cannon. Its also my favorite way to sink players. I let my captain do the boarding of needed. There is nothin more enjoyable in this game for me than cannonfire.

    You can stop here. Not going to happen in the near future. The current limit for player/ship number per server isn't just arbitrary.

  • You would have an option to choose. You wouldn’t be forced to start a fleet. Plus, there wouldn’t be a mixture of fleet ships and non fleet ships
