Bounty Skull Sorcery

  • Bounty Skulls... You kill the skeletons, they die, you pick up the skulls, and deliver them to the mystics for the Order of Souls. What makes them so valuable? What does the Order of Souls see in these skulls? Knowledge? Power? And in exchange, a few measly coins to spend on more voyages to fetch more skulls for them? And when we've fetched our fill and have nothing left to gain but a name for ourselves, we still know nothing of the power these skulls hold... that's because it doesn't exist yet.

    You hold the skull in your hand. You gaze into its burning eyes, it gazes back with a glimpse of the powers the Pirate Captains were cursed with. Hold the Use button while holding a bounty skull and be presented with one of 3 options; convert a number of cannon balls in your Resource inventory into random cursed cannonballs, or a choice between 2 abilities. Using the skull for its ability will consume the skull. Each skull has a different set abilities based on its type:

    Foul - 1 cursed cannonball, poison sword, smoke screen
    Disgraced - 2 cursed cannonballs, unholy strength, plant armor
    Hateful - 4 cursed cannonballs, explosion, trap chest
    Villainous - 5 cursed cannonballs, Gust, Shadow-Walk
    Skeleton Captain - 8 cursed cannonballs, Necro-aura, Clairvoyance

    -Using a skull to convert cannon balls to cursed cannon balls requires an amount of cannon balls equal to or more than the amount each skull can convert to be in your Resources

    -Poison Sword will make your next Cutlass strike inflict a snake bite. Requires an equipped Cutlass.

    -Smoke Screen will explode a dark cloud of smoke, obscuring vision in an area, disappearing after 10 seconds.

    -Unholy Strength will improve your physical strength at the cost of draining health per second, improving your repair speed, sail adjustment speed, and melee damage. Lasts 10 seconds draining 2% total health per second.

    -Plant Armor will equip your pirate with a kelp-like armor, causing you to rapidly regenerate health while in water and take less damage from long-range weapons. Effect ends after being dry for 30 seconds.

    -Explosion will cause your pirate to explode like a gunpowder keg after a fuse delay at the cost of 90% of your total health. This effect can friendly fire.
    -Trap Chest spawns a Captains Chest that will poison and blind all nearby foes upon being picked up by an enemy pirate.

    -Gust will cause the pirate to stand still and channel a gust of wind to blow in the direction they are facing, affecting all sails on the ship the pirate is currently standing on, overriding the natural wind. Effect lasts until cancelled.

    -Shadow Walk enchants the pirate's lantern with a dark energy, causing them to fade from sight and become invulnerable until a lit lantern is thrust at/by them or if they stop using their lantern. Being revealed by an enemy pirate's lanturn will stun the shadow walker for 2 seconds.

    -Necroaura will cause a wave of death to all living things around the pirate. Pirates will begin limping, vomiting, and lose their ability to eat bananas. Sharks, Megalodons and Kraken tentacles will take massive damage over time. All critters (snakes, pigs, chickens, fish) will shuffle off their mortal coil and be destroyed.

    -Clairvoyance grants the pirate the vision of Legends, allowing them to see pirates in line-of-sight (including shadow-walkers) by their auras. Lasts until death. Causes the pirate to have glowing blue eyes which is detectable at a range, moreso when they are looking down the scope of an Eye of Reach.
