Three forts in a row...

  • Last night my friends and I were doing some merchant quests when a skull cloud appeared in the sky. We decided to go for the fort and we ended up completing the fort uninterrupted within 20 minutes.

We ended up doing two more immediately after that and we completed those without being bothered as well. We earned around $80,000 that night just from Skelton forts.

With that being said, it felt weird that no one attacked us last night because usually AT LEAST ONE person attacks us while attempting a Skelton fortress. Are servers not being moderated well? We were in the same server the entire time.

  • @yardboot Honestly I would be more surprised if it was different servers. Every now and then I find a server like that too, where it just so happens that you get 5-ish ships all happily running their quests and avoiding forts/pvp, and one very happy ship that can just finish fort after fort in peace. Pretty rare, so glad you made use of it while you could!

  • My experience is forts aren't as contested as they used to be. At least from my perspective being able to complete 3 forts uncontested isn't surprising.

  • Last night I logged in for the first time this week and managed to join a Brig doing a Skull fort uncontested. Cashed in all the loot, did part of an voyage and then another fort uncontested. Could see other ships on the server, but they did their own thing. Seemed to have migrated servers once. Made about $40 000 in about 2 hours time.

Was also a super cool crew I was playing with.

  • @yardboot
We're not doing forts, we're doing Ashen Athena's voyages, well, my group and a good amount of others I know are doing the same thing, besides, it's a large map and everyone is doing their own thing

  • Me and my crew have been smashing forts with the Reaper's Mark on, but the competition is either lacking or not even showing up.
Forts used to be an amazing PvP experience that slowly degraded as the started to pop up more frequently with the Shrouded Spoils.
Currently, my hope is invested with the new fort in the Devil's Roar. I hope the interest in the fort will be huge once it becomes active.

  • Maybe other crews just doing thier voyages and had no intentsions on doing forts at that time...

  • I have been soloing forts lately and I do think it has to do with the frequency that they pop now. When it was every few hours everyone would jump at the opportunity to get it while they could. Now that they are up so often it has created an oversaturated market. There are Furbies everywhere now and no one talks about them, but I remember when there were fist fights over them when I was a kid. (I know they're also like 20+ years old but my point stands.)

  • I think what you are seeing is that there is sooo much to do in game now that forts are simply not as popular. We still do forts occasionally, and sometimes we do get some competition, but I would say it is 50/50 if anyone will come by to contest. And it is never because of an empty server as we have seen ships sail close by, but keep on going to wherever they were headed.

Truthfully, you get more money for your time doing ashen Athena. That coupled with the fact that doing some of the added active forts are just not fun. We did old boot camp the other day, that fort is just terrible, lol.

Normally, we simply go out and do our thing. We find a lot more excitement facing megs, kraken and skelly ships than we do forts. That and we can do a voyage and get all three of them so we are getting a more organic experience.

  • So attempted another Fort last night with my wife and her sister as crew mates... We weren't left alone to do out own thing :D... PvP not their strong point, or mine for that matter so was sent to the Ferry.

Guess Forts do still hold some value.
