Sea of Thieves is not Minecraft.

  • There are way too many posts about how people hate PVP, its understandable after having an hours grind taken BUT thats the game sea of thieves is, Solo or not its your OWN fault for getting caught. Just because YOU don't like the hard bosses in dark souls because they're too hard doesn't mean they'll be taken out because you can't handle a challenge, private servers are out of the question because the Sea of Thieves has always been described as a shared world, you have a choice to travel the unforgiving sea alone but its never been advertised as a single player game . All you can do is learn how to outsmart people and get better at fighting other players off, simple.

yeah its shared world, do you know Elite dangerous MMo in space also marketed as shared universe you literaly got the entire milky way to explore guess what ? they have private server where only you and people you invite can join and it works just fine. I think people just want to have the option and freedom to choose. Also some people just want to do their own thing clans want to play and train with their own members now if they want to do some event they have to bribe other crews to take over the server

  • Most of the people who post these PvP hating threads are usually Hippocrates. I’m sure that they have attacked other ships while they are minding their own business too.

  • also if you think it would be that bad why do you care ? you will still have the option to play un publick server so will others, Its like you say most people like pvp so it would not affect the gameplay or drain people from the servers pve players would go there and after some time would come back to publick anyway so again whats the problem with it ?

How do you claim to know that, lad.

  • Omlllllll these posts have been everywhere and all I have to say is “get good. It’s simple.”

  • PVP is so dead. Long gone are the days of epic galleon fights in the Sea of Sloops. Nobody even fights back anymore. They just take the loss, mermaid, and go about business. So, I'd say anti-pvpers have definitely gotten their way, yet the complaints continue.

Had some epic battles, yesterday. And had fun. Don't know about the other fraction. I thought I heared some of them whining. But they started the fight. The fun part was: we where allied, but our flag disapeared. Had they watched the map, they would have noticed it. They didn't. Haha.

  • @goedecke-michel Glad to hear it. I have limited time to play these days, so that could have something to do with it as well.

  • Why does the tone of the post tell me OP doesn’t want change or improvements made to the game? If I want combat to be 50% faster instead of being slow and clunky, why is that a bad thing? Because you’ve already mastered the current form?

It’s not difficult for us (many of us) because it’s incredibly challenging like Dark Souls. It’s difficult because it’s slow and clunky. My serious suggestion is to just make it Better, Faster, Smoother. Make it feel immersive. I haven’t played too many sword games to give the best example of but I think TES: Oblivion or even Skyrim style combat is ideal for Sea o T! In those games you just swing your sword nice and easy, not slow and cheesy. And you can transition to defence lightning fast. Bethesda totally ruined that element of gameplay in TES: Online, so I never play it for that reason.

Never played much Street Fighter style games but when I watch others play, I can’t see you able to defend yourself while receiving punches. Definitely not ideal examlple for Sea o T.

It may work just fine in that game but i can guarantee the game you're talking about is not like Sea of Thieves, its about the element of surprise - like yesterday for example, my brig got attacked by a rowboat with 3 guys on it, climbed up, caught me off guard then sailed our unprotected ship into a rock and thats what i love about SOT is that you don't know who's out there, if you want to train then doing it by hunting down players is the way to do it, although i'm not saying being unable to join your friends with a ship of your own shouldn't be allowed - however if they were to allow that i think it would affect servees in a negative way. They'd be filled with alliances that gank any player ship they see, ruining the variety of intentions for people who just want to play with their mates and not a world full of stream viewers. Furthermore i think forming alliances should be hard, simply because the reward is great, especially an allience with ships all doing Athena's.

I definitely agree, the sword mechanics and fighting styles should be improved but i have no doubt that this will be done regardless, for example let's say if they were to add different sword types such as the Rapier but instead of cross slashing you dodge back and jab, adding a melee weapon thats bad at defending leaving you vulnerable to damage but good at dodging and poking? Or maybe perphaps an Axe thats slow but can break through defence with its weight, so a weapon system with both benefits and weaknesses to eachother so its like a circle where one weapon being better than the other doesn't exist just skill and combat sense, these are the kinds of things that would definitely speed up the combat and make it more enjoyable to go hand in hand with but i'm sure Rare is already fully aware of this, their teams are very experienced and with the recent conent update the pressure is on for the team who worked on the megalodon update to step up their game and show us what they can do.

Lol ive been playing Elite Dangerous for 2years and never met another player yet, unless one shows up on a scan, but an actual interaction has been zero, the game is just that big.

SoT does not need private or pve servers though.

Been playing Elite Dangerous since launch...
Private servers don't work just fine. It trivializes community goals, kills power play, and you basically cheese the whole purpose of the game as there is no dangers anymore to you, might as well type /godmode on and /Giveitems credits 1000000000. Not to mention splitting the community, us vs them type of attitude.

it's not working just fine because the devs are now looking into ways to mitigate all the s**t that has spawns from allowing private servers, (for one they are looking into transferring all power play into open, and debating to extend it to community goals)

basically they are saying that, sure you want to play alone, go for it, but no perks or advanced gameplay for you.

Sea of Thieves' main dangers at sea is other players, remove that and you have just trivialized everything. aka
    /godmode
    /giveitem gold 10000000
    /setmerchantlevel 50
    /setooslevel 50
    /setgoldhoarderlevel 50

might as well go play euro truck simulator

  • Why are you comparing this to Minecraft i don’t understand
