For the people who thinks Cursed Sails it's impossible being one ship....

  • So we just finished doing one Skeleton Crew being just 1 SLOOP the entire fight, no alliance, no nothing.

We go 4 Chests 4 Skulls and a Bunch of other Stuff

We went to the fight with like 8-9 powder barrels. 100 of each material (Cannonballs, Bananas and Planks)

It is hard? YES FOR SURE, but if you have good coordination with your teammate you can do it.

    Great Experience.

  • Found it was easiest to do it on a duo sloop, just ram protect holes and bucket water till it's over.

  • People make one fight and start saying its impossible.... Like... What...

Like i said its hard but not impossible...

  • Well done on getting them down as just a sloop.

I was pretty sure it could be done without an alliance. I've not gotten to test it because another ship has turned up every time I've tried, but just judging from how many of the ships our ship had sunk and the resources we used I knew it was do-able.

Surprised that you managed it on a sloop. Ye must be skilled players.

I really like what they've done with this event. Can be done with a single ship but with high skill and tactics requirements. Much easier to do in an alliance, but nobody is locked into playing in an alliance just to get the event done.

I will say that trying to fight off the skeleton ships and another player controlled ship at the same time is very, very difficult, so if another ship shows up when you are trying the event without an alliance it might be better just to ally up (so long as they have the right sails). Ships looking to team up without the correct sails will be sunk.

  • @corpseq Yep, the yesterday Shores of Plenty one we actually rushed it for 2 ships with our sloop that get sunk every time they arrived, so maybe well going to try the solo next time. Once you learn how to stick to them while protecting the holes its freakingly easy with the sloop cause the cursed ship stick to you cant shoot back (and well, half the shoots of the other ship if can shoot you at all go to the other cursed ships).

  • @corpseq just like my voyages, I completed all 3 regions with just me and my brigantine or Galleon crew. (We did it in both ships)

  • All I can think about is

    1. Use Alt + Prt Scrn to make a screenshot of just the window without your desktop.
    2. Wow that's a high ping.

Nice job on clearing the skeletons tho ^_^

  • @corpseq Good job! You forgot to mention you need a lot of luck. Doesn't matter how good you are if you will suck up 2-3 dance curse cannonballs in a row while your boat is leaking. Happens a lot.

  • @corpseq Great job! And here we were thinking we might have made the skeleton ships a bit too difficult :P

  • Doing it in a sloop is easy compared to doing it in the Brigantine like we did last night tho. Much easier to repair, smaller target, harder to get knocked off of, much more nimble.

  • I don't think it's impossible with one ship at all. It's impossible with one person by himself like I'm trying to do. Lol.

  • @zz-emerz-zz Decreasing just a bit the skeleton crew inside the ship may help, as I said before in other post, 4 skeletons using cannons + a sniper + the captain + skeletons using guns and as if it wasn't enough there's at least 8 skeletons below deck repairing their ship and they all respawn several times. I'm not complaining at all, the dlc is awesome but I'm used to play it alone so I'm a bit upset that I possibly won't get most of the commendations. I do kill one or other ship but I'll never win a battle. :/

  • @pereraaa Probably not meant to be a one person type of thing tho...

  • @volantalpaca956 I agree in parts, it's a war and it's meant to be fought as one but if the game has the option to play it alone it has to have a kind of equilibrium to make it playable for everyone. What does the character equality of the game serve for if I can't even play what others can. I don't know, seems broken.

  • WOW ! Thanks for all the support on the post.
We for sure will keep playing the campaing and getting you posted on our researches XD.

Some of the things you have said:

We got hit like 4 - 5 times with cursed cannon balls and still managed to survive (Consecutives).

We as a team from Argentina (We are 4 players that have been playing together since launch, this particular fight were just 2 as i said before) have played the game in the first stage with 200 ping in NA servers i guess.
It will be super nice to play with like 60 50 ping but, sometimes we have to deal with 100+ ping, so we just get used to it and try to play arround the lag untill RARE make the servers better.

The fight feels super rewarding when you finished it beign in an alliance and as a DUO or SOLO.

We got almost all the commendations, even the legendaries that we are like 2 ships away from finishing it and the solo like 10 - 15 i dont really remember.

And next time i promise better pictures HAHAHA.

Hope to hear about your tales in the Seas !

  • @pereraaa I dont think any such thing is required, there's not much historical precedent for it in MMO's I've played.

I could Play EQ, DAoC, WAR, Planetside, Neocron, ect ect ect single player but all those games had things that were by design not supposed to be completed by a single player.

  • @volantalpaca956 On other hand there's The Division, one of the best games I've ever played and I think a lot of games as SoT should have as guide line for a multiplayer/single player game, I think it merges the two worlds in a phenomenal way and I was never incapable of doing anything.

  • @corpseq

That's an amazing feat, awesome work!

I have a feeling as the weeks go on, we might be hearing a few more stories of solo victories against the skeletons as we figure out the strategy which works best against them :D

  • I just did a sloop solo with a friend last night. For me the gunpowder kegs were an absolute neccesity. Get close enough to have your bud jump out of the Crow's nest and make a dash to at least mid deck and odds are that one blast will have the ship totally sunk.

  • Yeah as i said, with like 20 30 min of before preparation if yo gather enough resources you can do it.

  • What kind of CCBs where they hitting you with? I can see the dance being a huge issue on a sloop.

  • @celestron90 The purple ones, the ones who affects your ship.
