Pirate Haven our new Tortuga.

  • My fellow captains.
Let's pick one outpost and establish it as our pirate haven. No ship combat, no stealing, no killing. Except duels.
Trade: you are high ranking in the gold guild, I'm high ranking in the souls guild let's trade that skull for that chest.

Duels: you have a problem with another captain. Let's duel. Each put up a piece of loot. The same worth. Duel, winner takes both. Crew cannot get involved and all watch and vote.

Have a drink in the bar and share stories and music.
All who enter must honor the haven.
    Let's vote.

  • This is a cool idea, but how would the community enforce such a thing? Also the problem I see is that there aren't a lot of people on a server at the same time, so coordinating everyone meeting at a set time on one outpost can be difficult. Otherwise love the idea.

  • It doesn't matter how many is on the server. 4 ships could be on the server. If we established this. I would find myself visiting there just to converse

  • Hopefully others would to.

  • That sounds good, we'd need to pick an outpost that's more in the center of the map since that would be easier for everyone to get to. I really do like the idea of a community driven safe outpost, since Rare has no plans to do this anytime soon. The game needs it, if only for the social interaction that is sorely missing from the game (unless you're playing with a crew).

  • This sounds like a good idea! I vote for either Golden Sands Outpost or Sanctuary Outpost.

  • @titanvanguard14 NO

  • Sanctuary Outpost! Heck, the name implies a friendly outpost lol.

I have treated Sanctuary like this already since it's name.

Community enforced safe zone? This could work, you know, if the community is willing.

  • @xrampagestjowax Good pick. I'll start doing that too.

  • I'll honor it.

May he that break the code feel the full wrath of the sea and the blackhearts upon her!

  • @rob-deaderick Same here.

  • In PotC Tortuga was a pirate haven not because pirates didn't kill each other but because it wasn't governed by common law or if it was then it was very poorly enforced. There are many scenes of bar fights and in a couple of them shots were fired and sabres drawn that sounds to me anything other than safe. There is also many suggestions of debauchery of all kinds so whose to suggest that Tortuga was a safe haven in fact it was anything but.

  • @rob-deaderick spread the word. We need votes.

  • U have my axe !

I wish the fellow community will follow but it's a thing, we are a little part of her :/ who really look the forums.

  • If you guys see @DutchDeadSchot on Sanctuary Outpost shoot to kill :)

  • @alphacenturion2
    Port royal
    St.Mary's Island
    Tortuga
    Clew Bay
    New Providence
All pirate havens the were run by pirates for pirates to converse. Historical. The were also policed by pirates out of respect for one another.

  • @titanvanguard14 Noteable Pirates that could be found here:
    Charles Vane
    Black Beard
    Calico Jack
    Anne Bonney
    HenryMorgan

  • Sanctuary outpost it is. Spread the word around the sea.

  • I'm sailing there tonight.

  • There was a thread awhile back identical to this but they voted on Daggers Tooth Outpost for its centralness. I thought it was a great idea. I think Community enforced safe zones is how it should be handled. It's safe so long as you can enforce it. Problem is with the way the servers are you would really have to get the word to spread and get a lot of people to agree to it to make it effective. Don't know what happened to the previous thread.

I like the server approach but it does hinder this sort of stuff which I would love to see in action. Hopefully once the game grows and they expand the map they will add more people to the servers population making this sort of thing more viable. Best of Luck tho. I never shoot first so you'll get no trouble from me~

Devs could add an island somewhere on the map that is a DMZ - Have it house multiple docks like Sanctuary Outpost to allow many ships to dock. Call it ....er....um.....Pirate's Haven or something.

Yes, many people, including myself have called for a safe zone in the game, but so far it appears Rare has no plans. It might change in the future, it would be a welcome addition to the game if they do. A lot of people are against this for some reason.

  • Plunder outpost.

Or just a random isle that doesn't offer much.

I don't know what it is with me, but Plunder Outpost has had a wreck within view of the dock and laden with great loot lately almost every time I log into the game!

  • @greaseman85
I'm sort of against safe zones but not to the point where I'm ready to drop the game if one got added.

If anyone has played the mmo Pirates of the Burning Seas, their safe zones, hostile zones is what I worry about. Campers on the edges can be just as bad as campers at the docks. To be fair, for it to be a true issue you would need larger server populations.

At the end of the day this game desperately needs a place to socialize so however it gets done I'll be happy with. Safe zones or no. I think a community enforced safe zone would be within the spirit of the game and should the numbers and resources be there to enforce it would be much cooler in the long run than the devs dropping one in for us.

  • @john-hatter Honestly I think even for the community enforced safe zones we need a larger server population for it to be a lot of fun. We may have to sit on the outpost for half an hour before another player shows up. At the same time a larger server population would cause chaos on the seas.

But hey I think it'll be cool even if there are only 2 or 3 pirates on the outpost socializing, trading items, helping each other with carrying loot, defending each other against a hostile pirate on the outpost, etc.

  • @oneeyed-w1lliam yup! That and ancient

  • @greaseman85
Agreed. I have seen it mentioned here and there about flags or similar effects to announce your hostile or not and other such indicators. I know these sorts of things could be abused but lets face it....pirates didn't actually sail around with black flags all the time either. Caution will always be key in Sea of Thieves.

But I wonder if such a system would be beneficial long term. I like to lounge on certain outposts and if I could dock with a peaceful flag indicator it would go a long way to helping a positive side of the in-game to grow. Granted someone could just come and sink my ship but lets face it if I'm just lounging I don't really care what happens to the darned thing anyway on top of the fact that they can already sink me as is. But some sort of indicator could go a long way versus seeing a docked ship and just avoiding the outpost all together just to be safe. We almost need something to counter the caution the game has forced us to develop.
