Had to sink a ship 7 times today...

  • Please reintroduce the feature/bug that if you sink a ship 3 times it migrates servers. The tactic of trolling to win is great at skull forts only because most sane people leave and find a new server. If I throw my ship at yours and lose repeatedly you lose resources and time (both are important at skull forts.)
I would love to leave the server but that means these guys get the skull fort? Never.
7 times we never sunk or came close we sunk them once with only boards left on our ship, this took hours of my time and they stood 0 chance.
PVP is amazing when frustrating because you messed up or when you succeed and save your loot or add to it but how is this dynamic, fun, or a possibility?

  • @senilegold i don't understand how they got back to you 7 times....

If they were scuttling there ship prior to actually sinking then ok definitely beleiveable.

The skull fort itself takes no more than 10 minutes(4man) or 15 minutes(2man) to actually clear all waves from start to finish. With the recent spawn changes a ship should only be able to have time to possibly come back once and maybe twice if they catch you at the outpost you're turning in at.

I think the main issue is you need to speed up your clear time of the fort. I highly suggest as well if you're worried about other galleons showing up have one player swim explosive barrels far out into the water from your ship, when they attempt to broadside cannon you they will hit them and sink. Takes about 5 mins of work from 1 player but can sink a galleon in under 3 seconds.

  • @freecellqt We were in a sloop, we also had terrible spawns Ghosts at night and so forth. After landing we tried to situate ourselves they showed up and a cycle began leaving us depleted and scavenging (also we had a bug at the fort and had to restart the instance to get skeles to spawn.)
They were so bad we didn't run with the key just opened and murdered then sunk them and the 7th came as we turned it in. Imagine the worst possible scenarios happening repeatedly and that was this skull fort.
We had also been playing together over 8 hours and weren't all that "fresh."
Trust me I've done nearly 50 forts I'm familiar with all the tactics. It was a case of two tired people deciding to stick it out despite a scuttle being the best option.

  • @freecellqt Also, they were coming back every 2-3 minutes. Depending on where you are the spawn isn't really that far. And without some limitation (like, say, no resources after being sunk 2 or 3 times in a row) they can just keep coming, lights on and all. We're fast, trust me, that wasn't the issue at all. The fort was the one just west of Ancient Spire, crow's nest I think it is. They kept spawning Northwest of us, something like crook's hollow from the look of it (didn't check the map as we kept rushing fort waves).
