Invincible Galleons?!

  • This is another story of a sloop not being able to take down a Galleon.

We approached a skelly fort on a two man sloop and wanted to help the Galleon that was already there. As we arrived, we took down a couple of the watch towers and then the Galleon started firing at us.

So we decided to take on the parked galleon. We got to an angle where they couldn't get us and we unleashed about 15 cannonballs on a parked Galleon and it STILL WOULD NOT A SINK!! Half the crew weren't even on the ship to patch it up! They were in the sea, trying to get to our sloop.

What i did notice was that when we were landing direct hits, the "successful hit" chime wasn't sounding. Despite splinters flying everywhere. It was clear we were landing direct hits from close range. My ship mate managed to get on to the Galleon and saw loads of holes in it, however it wasn't sinking.

Was this a bug? Was it an example of PC hackers making their ship impenetrable? Either way, Galleons should be going down a lot easier to make the game more balanced. I've sunk a galleon a lot easier before. Something was not right.....!

    Has anyone else experienced this?

  • @deako-one
Did you hit them above or below the waterline?

  • @thor-von-blitz It was a mixture of both some were central and not on the top deck.

  • @deako-one Seriously do you even know how the mechanics of sinking a ship works. You can fire 100 cannons in to a gallion and not sink it if you only make holes on the mid deck, Cannonballs don't do HP dmg or anything they just make holes and unless all thoes 10,15 or 100 cannon shots makes hole in the lower deck they don't even need to repair untill they start taking in enough water to be below the waterline for thoes holes.

I meet so many pirates that just think its about how many cannonshots you hit... SO here is a tip
Spread your shots out on there lower hull if you want to make a ship sink and a few up top, hitting the same place over and over don't make new holes, tho you can pushback the one that are inside trying to repair that said hole by shooting the same place over and over.

  • Below the waterline mateys, below the waterline ;)
I have just standed inside a galleon surrounded by two amateur sloops that were firing all their cannonballs on close range on my team galleon... hah nothing, just holes in second floor :P nothing else... you can just look while they are waisting their ammo on shooting all around the galleon without realizing that letting more air in it wont sink it :P

    Chill out....

I've sunk a Galleon by just parking to the rear of it and firing cannonballs above the water line at the rear. So there's clearly an element of inconsistency.

  • @deako-one The waves make vessles take in very small amounts of water now and then even on sloops that have holes middeck. It will take forever to sink one by waiting for thoes holes to fill a gallion up

  • also 2 cannonballs on galleon and 3rd is shoot yourself in it... kill the crew... leap back to your sloop and play some harmonic while shooting those floaters on water and watch that galleon to go meet davys locker ;)

^^ You answered your own question in this sentence you got a angle where they couldn't hit you i.e. front or back of the ship, ok let me explain to you if you are hitting the same area with cannonball how do you expect to make many holes in ship you only make 1- 2 at the back/front so yes one guy could of easily patched up that ship whilst eating banana's and drinking grog because you need to make more holes which means you need hit the side don't be noob its not pc player hack it was noob logic!

That also depends on the way the water is middle deck holes wont sink you in calm water but will in rough water logic!

Not front or back actually. On a diagonal and out of the angle from their last cannon. I had shots at the whole of the side of their ship.

    Clearly.

  • @deako-one Sometimes they manage to get themselves jammed so they wont sink, but they also cant move.
Seen unsinkable sloops that were stuck that way. Cant call it a cheat that much but it helps when need to be spawned back at the same place uninterrupted.

    1. You tend not to get the "hit" noise when at a skull fort, the fort music overrides most noises. instruments and hitmarkers included.

    2. Where you hit a shot matters. and 2 people can fairly easily repair a Galleon if you're not hitting them right. I kid you not today I stood on second deck watching a sloop shoot the same spot ~10 times, and it wasnt even below the water. I used 1 board and stayed dry.

  • @deako-one
I had a similar experience last night m8.
Logged in & immediately noticed a galleon heading to an active skull fort, so i thought i'd go & 'join' them.
I made my way towards the fort & could see the galleon getting peppered with cannon fire from the fort cannons. As i got closer i could see someone in their crows nest trying to scope me with the EOR. So i decided to help the skellies sink the galleon, & unloaded 22 cannonballs into the ship (all at different points & all below the waterline) & nothing happened. The 1 crew member that was in the crows nest didn't even come down to patch the holes. The rest of the crew were on the island, so how the boat didn't sink with over 20 holes below the waterline & with NO REPAIRS done can only be attributed to cheats!
I jumped in the water to swim across & was 1 shotted with the EOR while swimming. I was then repeatedly spawn killed until i scuttled my sloop!
Definite hackers!! Those that are saying hardly anyone is cheating is sorely mistaken. this is the 4th bunch of cheats i've seen!!

  • It's not invincible galleon it's your lack of knowledge of game mechanic.
    As were mentioned above.

    1. Shoot in\under waterline
    2. Shoot in different spots. Don't penetrate 1 hole it's useless. Good galeon crew can "overrepair" even 2-3 cannons shooting at the same time.
    3. Sloop isn't good as cannon shooter. It's cannon is more like distract. When i play with my buddy in a sloop, we use sabotage (gunpowder keg). One man stay on sloop firing and slowly moving around him. Other blow them up and occupies their cargo hold with blunderbuss (preventing repairs and harass em). Easy tactics vs most galeons.
  • Aim below the sea if its water and leaks you hope to see

    or something like that
