It's really simple. This game has a matchmaking system right? Lets start using it. Players who kill a bunch and sink other ships just get put into the same servers/ships as each other.
Idea for dealing with hyper aggressive PVPers
if they would do this, there would have to be a 'refresh' on it. like every 24 hours the stat resets. So each day, the player decides if they want to go combat heavy or just sail around and do voyages. (what they did yesterday, wouldn't affect their experience today)
edit: but tbh, i like the free for all. u never know what type of player you're going to encounter, and that provides an element of paranoia that i think is necessary for a pirate game
@coldasbluessoul The game has a huge PVP element to it, Its a eat or be eaten world out there. Adapt or perish simple as that. Or maybe I can just say this in gaming words you can understand, [mod edited]
@coldasbluessoul There is a difference between the current matchmaking system (dealing with maintaining a specific number of players on each server) and an MMR matchmaking like the ones used on mobas or fps games.
Also, this sounds like yet another PvE PvP split theory, and we have more than enough of these...
As someone who enjoys both sides of the coin, this is all so silly. Some days we just load up on shot and barrels and go looking for fights. Some days we just dig up gold. Most days we do both.
People need to stop pretending it's one or the other. It's not. Both are fun, both are part of the game.
Also "hyper aggressive pvpers" just means pvpers. It's not your thing? Don't do it. And I scoured the forum, not one post about getting rid of the hyper passive PVEers. They just keep runnin. They won't just hand over their loot. It's ruining the game I tell you. And I know that sounds silly, but every other thread is about nerfing, separating, or punishing PvP. Enough already.

Want to deal with Hyper Aggressive PVPers. Sink their ships

Really? Everything on the website would make anyone visiting believe it's a PvE game, with a tiny amount of PvP here and there.
I'm glad you're here to fix my opinion! Could you please tell me which cosmetic outfits, sails, hulls, equipment, player titles, new ships and quests you get with and from PvP? I'd definitely love to get started reaping those awesome PvP rewards and achievements. Maybe I just missed them.

Why would I waste time on that when I could just do the PvE quest for the same reward in this PvE game?
There's ZERO rewards for doing PvP.

@a-trusty-mango I get where you're coming from and it sounds like they are planning to implement the extended respawn mechanic, which is great. That being said, I've only had one occasion of a ship respawning and being able to track me down again. So I sunk it. Didn't see it again.

Yeah, I think you're too easily entertained. The PvP parts definitely needs to be scaled back, after all PvE players would prefer to be left alone.

@kermitdafrog91 LOL doing skeleton forts and turning in the rewards is not pvp rewards my friend. And if you haven't been doing skeleton forts and have taken the loot from ships like true pirates then what servers are you playing in for these ships to have that much loot, eh?
Your just not pirate enough.
Some of the comments sound like PVP players being afraid of getting attacked from everyone else instead of being the aggressor in the lobby... (yes, you would have to work for your rewards then and have to play the more complex part of the game too)
But if there would be a possibility to match players with other ones playing alike i agree on @Coldasbluessoul idea.
Maybe using a statistic over the last 7 days or something like that, so players do have a chance to change their style over time.@neller2000 said in Idea for dealing with hyper aggressive PVPers:

Even thou the game description states a shared world where you can do anything you like to being a pirate digging up treasure create your own story's the big word in this is "shared world", giving you pve players your own space just takes away from what the game originally was intended to be.

@lowbei I love the PvP. But be honest here, lowbei. There was no strong push in advertising for the PvP element. Even on the Microsoft store they mention Player vs Player combat just ONCE. Every where else they make it sound and push a co-op adventure game where you play a pirate with online multiplayer.
If they had made this game solely for PvP as you said then why did they include a PvE element in it for the cosmetic progression? Why not just tie everything into the PvP aspect of the game?
I think Rare just wanted to try something new change the game a little bit out there I mean its not the only game on xbox where you have pvp/pve you got ARK: survival evolved yeah there are pve only servers but its still similar your getting dayz sometime this year and oh that is going to generate salt, most PC players are used to games like this if any other pc player here has played rust they know what I mean people will get used to it it just takes time.
Huge PvPer here, and I have no issue with Rare doing matchmaking in the background which tends to place certain players with other certain players, but it obviously can't do that across the board (for your loot to be valuable, you need that chance to lose it).
All of this should be hidden from view and Rare should never tell anyone what criteria they use to do matchmaking, other than to say that they are watching how we play, and trying to optimize the experience a bit.
For example, as a PvPer I of course want PvErs in my instance, cuz otherwise who is gonna do the work to find all that sweet loot?

the devs already know how their game works, thats why they made it for pvp.
Devs care only about a few things, keeping the PvE players happy since they vastly outnumber the PvP ones. Making sure there's tons of PvE players left since they spend far more on cosmetic in microtransactions than PvP players. PvP players leaving the game won't be much of a loss.
Give it a few more months, they'll fix this mess fast.
