Stronghold Treasure Room Empty

  • My crew and I fought against another pirate crew for a while tonight for control of a skull stronghold. We emerged victorious and killed the captain, obtaining the key. We saw they were coming back, so we decided to leave and come back later to get the treasure. We fled with the key and did a few other voyages. An hour later we came back and they were still camping the stronghold. We dropped the key off on a nearby island and went back to the stronghold to engage our enemy. After a short battle we sunk their ship and went back and reclaimed our key. As we were returning the stronghold we all received the "Server Merge" text. Once we got back to the stronghold, we used the key to open the treasure room and to begin looting our hard-earned reward. To our surprise, the door opened and absolutely nothing was inside. Our moral was instantly shattered. Over 2 hours of hard work, for absolutely zero reward.

I'm not sure what caused the issue. Us taking so long to open the door, or the servers merging which caused the treasure room to reset (I feel like it's this one). Either case, this needs to get fixed. If you're going to merge the servers together, the stronghold treasure rooms cannot reset!!!

  • Server merging is the likely reason. As others have said, their chests despawn that were stashed places other than their ship. Since the chests are technically not on any ship and pretty much just sitting on an island, spawned there before it's even open, same situation. Not on your ship, so they're gone on the server change.

It sucks, but we've all had an unavoidable situation ruin a session. If you need some help to get a fort done feel free to send me a message some time and with some luck find an active raid

  • @legendary-bo Yeah it's a shame, it's a really nice and unique mechanic to merge games instances that makes sure you're always in populated seas. But currently it needs some tweaks I think because it can often mess with players plans.

As much as I like the feature, it should maybe give some kind of warning prior to it happening, giving people enough time to wrap up what they were doing.

Tactics like hiding treasure on islands or indeed the key are way too risky if there is the chance you could be whisked away to a different instance at any moment.

I would suspect the system handling game instance merges currently has no visibility on treasure level of detail, but yeah you're right its nice if it had, and knew to migrate the contents of skull forts if there is an active key currently in the world.
