what is the server player capacity? and why can't more than one boat go into matchmaking together?

  • 1.) What is the server capacity?
I only see like 20 total players per server it seems
2.) why, if people were grouping up in the alpha, did you guys not plan for bigger groups by the release?
It's really starting to bug me that i have to choose the real life friends that I'm going to play the game with

  • @bobbo1771 I thought it was like 5 boats per server or something.

I think there is a very good reason more than one crew can't join together. Ever been on an Ark server or similar where a group of people basically raid the server and make it unplayable? (Chinese players I'm looking at you)

Whether they intended it or not you can't have a gang roaming the seas.

  • @mudweller This is exactly why there is no alliance making before entering a server. It would be heavily abused. Still, I'd love to be able to do so. I thought they said 6 ships per server so a max of 24 players if its full crew galleons. I could be wrong though.

  • @mudweller
I hear that, but if you find a like minded boat on the server there's nothing to stop you from doing the same thing, and it's not that unheard of. And if that was a play style people were interested in, wouldn't it be better to matchmake Armada against Armada? how would that not make the game a little more interesting? as it happens now it's tempting to wait till late at night and try to jump into matchmaking at the same time, but you literally never succeed at finding more friends, just a bunch of random people who are more likely to be starved on the inadequacies of Fortnite

  • @bobbo1771 good luck trying to consistently make friends with other crews in this game. You can, but it's a lot of work.

Two sloops working together could own a server. I totally support what they did here.

  • It's six ships. So player capacity can be 6 solo players, or 24 players on 6 galleons. But more likely somewhere in between.

There are only six ships. They don't want you and 5 of your friends taking over a server were 6 solo sloops.

  • I'm literally sitting in an Xbox party with 5 friends right now, wondering why one of us can't even just be a renegade in the same game, and why we have to exclude someone. People are all worried about their skill levels and we're all tempted to put the weakest link out into the wilderness by himself because this "Shared" world really only belongs to the most experienced crew.

  • @o-luna-lux-o I just saw that number somewhere, but yea something like that for number of ships. I have only seen 4 ships in visible range at the same time, including mine.

  • @bobbo1771 a lot of games have limits on how many can play together. Gears of War comes to mind. This is nothing new.

  • @mudweller I have fought 4 other ships at once, so 5 including mine.

  • private servers with server browsers would be a fun addition. admin could set rules allowing or disallowing teaming up, among other things. they could rent them, ala battlefield, and make some decent gold.
